Stay-Away Package. To the management at Ashland Springs Hotel. We viewed the Deluxe Queen view room online and made a reservation with the “Getaway Package” which included Movie tickets to the adjacent theater and dinner at their in house restaurant named Larks. The Room was not comparable to what we viewed and was difficult to move or walk in. You were unable to supply the Movie Tickets which was on our itinerary. The restaurant was unable to serve us even though it was not busy. Solution: Represent the room images accurately. Don't advertise Movie tickets. Don't sell Dining when unavailable. When prompting the hotel desk that there were 7 tables that were open for the last 75 minutes and we could not wait 3 hours to eat, she told us that there was no refunds of the 75 dollars prepaid for the dining. We were asking to eat, not a refund. We had to find another restaurant. We can think of a number of ways a fine hotel could have handled these situations for their guests. The problems were present and the problem solving was not.

Response from Scott Brandstetter, General Manager at Ashland Springs Hotel
Responded 3 weeks ago
Hello Mr Bell, Thank you for your feedback regarding your visit to the Historic Ashland Springs. Being a historic hotel, our room types are not identical. Every room has a different view and often times a slightly different layout. The Movie office has recently closed and has relocated. That caused a slight gap in attaining tickets. We have credited your account for that cost. Larks on a Saturday of a holiday weekend can fill up quickly. I spoke with our manager, and they were only able to offer a later time than you desired due to reservations and seating flow. While there may have been empty tables when you arrived, they were being filled with reservations. I took the liberty of crediting your account for the dinner voucher as well. I apologize for the experience you encountered while you were staying with us. We hope to see you again in an effort to earn your trust with us.

Amazing location in downtown Ashland, convenient to shops, restaurants, theater, and Lithia Park. The rooms are quiet, quaint, clean, and have a fridge/freezer. The staff is exceptionally helpful. Highly recommend visiting Lark's restaurant which is in the building - excellent food and service.

Stayed at the ASH for two nights. Beautiful lobby that instantly transports you to a past era of splendor. It’s an old hotel with a lot of character. so many hotels are now cookie cutter, this one is not. It’s fun to stay in a hotel like this. The bedding linen is of high quality, and the pillows are great. But, the mattress was overly soft and seemed to be showing its age. Bathroom is a good size and the shower is great. However, the window/caulking in the bathroom. Is also showing its age. The room itself is small, but cozy. The hvac is quiet and effective. You can definitely hear the traffic in the hallways and the water in the pipes. But I couldn’t hear my neighbors which is great. When I checked in, front desk was very helpful and friendly, however a few other times the front desk wasn’t super friendly, I get it, sometimes people have a bad day. Parking is in the back and complimentary. Hotel is centrally located so one can walk to any restaurant in Ashlands central district. Breakfast is included and has oatmeal, eggs, cereal, pastries, coffee and juice. Totally serviceable. The restaurant attached, Larks. Was packed and I had dinner from there once and it was ok. The only other issue is that there is no fitness room in the hotel. They will comp you at the Snap fitness about 7 minutes away. If I return to Ashland, I’d definitely stay here again.

I love old hotels that have a sense of history, and this one fits the bill nicely. The location on the heart of downtown Ashland is perfect, with convenient free parking behind. The lobby is really lovely. The front desk staff were friendly, and check in and check out were very efficient. The room itself was very small but comfortable, with a good bed. I liked that there was an armchair to sit in, but there was no desk. The bathroom was also small but perfectly serviceable (although the light switches were outside the bathroom, sort of hidden behind the TV). The included breakfast was fine. Everything seemed very clean. I think that for two people, the room would feel pretty cramped for a longer stay, but it was fine for one night, and we enjoyed our visit.

A grand hotel that wears its history well! Lovely main floor entrance with numerous seating areas & a cozy fireplace on a chilly, rainy day. Rooms are clean & comfortable, queen beds great w/4 feather pillows, light down comforter or cotton quilt and good bedside table lighting. Bathroom is very clean & well appointed with good lighting for makeup and strong shower water pressure. Complimentary breakfast has good coffee and selection of granolas, oatmeal, egg frittata, muffins & bagels and seating extends from the small dinning area to the charming tables along the balcony overlooking the 1st floor reception area

The hotel location is great, the lobby and common areas are nicely decorated. The staff were very helpful and friendly. Unfortunately the rooms are badly in need of an update. We booked the parlour suite which I strongly recommend not to book. There is only one, on the third floor at the back of the hotel which is level with the parking lot and located about 40ft at best from the back door entrance and luggage cart ramp. (See Photo) The view is non existent and is so bad that most of the windows have an opaque film over them so you can not see out. The sofa and the chairs in the parlour had stains on them as did the carpet. There is a distinct difference between period furniture and old and dated. The bathtub had bad attempts at chip repair all over it. The filter in the bathroom ceiling, (a type of furnace filter) was filthy. There was no light in the closet, the fridge was crammed in there and there was hardly any space to hang up anything. There was a lack of plugs everywhere. Finally the bathroom was set up for disabled individuals with grab bars everywhere and that is clearly not indicated anywhere on the web site or in the reservation confirmation. We love Ashland but until the hotel rooms are updated, it is unlikely that we would stay here again.

A lovely hotel. Decor was beautifully done in period furnishings, and the rooms were very clean. Comfortable beds, and great breakfast. Our corner room had 2 windows with great views. Sitting in the lobby by the fireplace was very relaxing. will return.

The good: great lobby and fantastic location w/in walking distance of many great eateries and OSF. Gave us bottle of champagne on arrival when discovered we were celebrating wedding anniversary. The bad: room had no working heat; when we reported this, they made no effort to repair and only offered us a space heater. Mattress worn out, pits on the sides - they try to mitigate this w/ a pillowtop, which does not work. Severe lack of drawer space, so you effectively live out of suitcase. A special reprimand to breakfast staffperson Josephina who was surprisingly rude on two occasions when I only asked her to refill the milk pitcher.

Stayed @ Ashland Springs Hotel for my 75th. The room was extremely small.Ok for a one nighter. The hotel is historic almost 100 years old, so if you enjoy vintage hotels this place is for you. The hotel staff was superb in every way. Transporting you luggage from the parking lot can be challenging if you have mobility issues like we do... The breakfast was ok..typical buffet style offerings... a nice place for a night...to small for us...we like more space!!!!!!![612]
