We found ourselves meandering off the interstate when we decided to look for a stop for the night. We were traveling with our dogs, so selections were limited. Nothing appealed to us in York, but a wonderful discovery laid ahead in Abbottown. The only place to take dogs was a treat to be had for the whole family. On the... More

Just returned from a one night stay. The room was very dated but had a really good mattress and nice linens. My husband and I tried the happy hour which was really good. The bartender Laurie was super attentive and we also got delicious chips with balsamic drizzle and cheese. Yum! So far so good--- until brunch. I had looked at... More

My wife and I stayed here during our trip the Historic Gettysburg. The building is old and worn, but that is what gives it some of its charm, but the rest is just neglect. From the minute you arrive, it's like stepping back in time. There is no check in desk, you have to see the restaurant hostess. She gives you... More

The good: Great room, very large, clean and comfortable. Bed was excellent as well as the linens. Nicely located outside the holiday craziness of Gettysburg. The building is beautiful and well maintained. The so-so: This is not a B&B and shouldn't be listed that way. It is more of a small hotel or inn. The staff were fine, but they're... More

My wife and I spent the day at Gettysburg and drove about 20 minutes to the East to Abbottstown where we had a delightful overnight stay at the Altland house Inn. It is right on the circle of this little town which is described as noisy to some reviewers however vibrant and interesting to those like us watching from the... More

We recently stayed for the weekend. Friendly and helpful staff, but we immediately noticed the terribly worn and stained carpet upon entry of the inn. Not a good first impression. However, dining area to the right looked very nice. We had to walk up to our room carrying our luggage so be prepared. Luckily we were NOT on the 3rd... More

Beautiful, huge rooms… maybe 26’ by 14’. Slightly worn from years of modifications and safety/security upgrades. Very comfortable king size bed and couch. Very small TV (go to one of the two bars if you want to watch sports.) Room 23 NOT really recommended… street noise both from the front and side streets. Located at the end of the hallway,... More

Husband and I stopped on a Sunday afternoon on our way to his birthday getaway. We were greeted by a young distracted hostess. I later found out why because she and most of the young waitstaff hung out in the kitchen talking and joking the entire time we were there! We were seated at a table right outside of the... More

This is an older property with a great amount of character in each room. Loved the location. Our room was spacious and comfortable. This is not your chain hotel style of stay. Kind of takes you back to the early 1900's even with the modern amenities. Comfortable nights sleep. The continental breakfast is minimal but was fine for what I... More

Stayed several days in this lovely historic inn not far from Gettysburg. It's located on the square in the middle of Abbottstown which means that there's a lot of noisy traffic just outside the window. The room was spacious and comfortable but the decor could use some updating. Breakfast was not very exciting with coffee, cereal, muffins, bagels, yogurt, and fruit.... More
