Hotel was just ok. Not sure there is much to say good or bad, again it was just ok. Room was just fine, beds were comfortable...the ladies who work in breakfast every morning are very sweet and always friendly.
Terrible customer service at check-in; zero appreciation for the Marriott business traveler. I was checked out of the hotel before the end of my stay. For the last night, I was charged the market rate (vs AAA or other), and then I was told I couldn’t have the discounted rate for the remainder of my stay. After issuing a complaint through the Marriott Gold line, the hotel corrected the rate the next day. BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR BILL for the charged per diem rate (vs. what was promised on the reservation) before you leave the hotel, or it’ll never get corrected. Lastly: CHECK FOR MISSING STAY if you’re accruing points for stay. The hotel did not credit the points for my stay even though I booked through the Marriott Bonvoy app...first time that has happened.
Take a look at the declining reviews, and you will understand why there were only 10 cars in the parking lot when we arrived at 8pm. We won't be back. The initial room booked by the employer was for 2 double beds instead of a King. Asked that they switch to the King, and I'd be happy to pay for any price difference (there was no price difference). Answer: since the employer booked it through a 3rd party, they wouldn't make the switch, regardless of my offer to pay more. Shared with the check in staff that my friend is new to town (first night), will spend a lot of nights in Aiken, and has discretion regarding where to stay. Didn't make a lot of sense to piss her off the first night in town. Said it nicely, just trying to solve the problem, get a place to sleep, and create a win-win. Called the employer who booked the room, they made arrangements for a King, and we went back to the front desk. Talked with Heather, who stated she spoke with her General Manager (Susan). Heather stated that I made her feel uncomfortable, and that we would not be welcome to stay at the hotel. Got our bags and went to the Holiday Inn Express, which was delightful. My friend has Hyatt Globalist status, meaning that she has stayed over 60 nights in 5 months at a Hyatt. Hyatt doesn't have properties in Aiken, hence the need to try Marriott. She will probably have at least 50 nights in Aiken between now and the end of the year. But they will never be at a Marriott property based on this experience. And ... the employer is still battling to get a full refund for the 4 night reservation that we were told that we could not use. Buyer beware.…
The hotel was nice and the desk staff was very friendly. We only stayed one night. The room was large with a living area and a big bedroom. I liked the fridge and microwave too. The breakfast was fine. Waffles, eggs, sausage and the regular stuff like toast, yogurt, cereal. My only complaint was the bathroom. There was curly hair under the sink and on the tile in the shower and there was a used washcloth still across the shower curtain bar. I just didn’t feel like the bathroom was cleaned very well. That was disappointing but overall it was a good stay and I would stay there again.
In August we booked a reservation thru Hotels.com for April 2022 during Masters week. In October the hotel inexplicably charged my credit card over $1000 for this reservation. Hotels.com confirmation clearly stated we would be charged in April and at no time did the this hotel contact us with a different policy. I cancelled the reservation immediately after being charged. After several calls to Fairfield Inn and false promises of we’ll call you back about this it’s now in dispute with my CC company. Something very fishy going on here and causing lots of headaches and phone calls to get my money back.
Boy I’m tired of the COVID excuse to screw the customer. All I asked was that our room be made up since we were participating in a tennis tournament all day and wanted to return to a fresh room. We asked, it was noted in the Fairfield’s computer system ….. but NOTHING WAS DONE TO OUR ROOM. They didn’t even replenish the coffee for the in- room coffee maker. And they didn’t fix the light in our dungeon-like bathroom. When I calmly inquired at the front desk when we returned from dinner, the poor night clerk was apologetic but suggested if we weren’t satisfied we could find another hotel. As a pretty loyal Marriott user I was a bit shocked but maybe it’s my only option. Clearly, many hotels feel they can profit from COVID by eliminating many of the “treats” that a hotel stay used to offer. And maybe they’re all following the same playbook. But somebody is going to recognize the opportunity to take care of the customer. I’ll be supporting the company that takes that path.…
From the moment we received that welcoming smile from LaSonia at the front desk we knew we picked the right place to stay in Aiken. Mildred at breakfast was also so welcoming. The food was great, everything was immaculate and presented beautifully. Ms.LaSonia gave us excellent restaurant recommendations. You could tell she loved working there and she loved Aiken. When I left my phone at the restaurant she immediately called and said I was on my way. Perfect location , walking distance to a fabulous seafood restaurant. Wished we brought a bathing suit. Next time we will.
Trashy property and fraudulent management. I stayed on August 17th 2021 on a business trip. My room was gross, toilet wouldn’t drain with sewage spilling over on the floor. I took pictures of rusted night lamps, dirt and other white stains on the wall, damaged furniture and bathroom tubs. It was at par with a $39 Motel 6. Fraudulent management: Upon check in, I identified to the front desk associate that I had booked a Bonus points rate code and was expecting the bonus points credit to my account. She verified and confirmed I had a bonus points rate code and assured that I will get those points. Up on check out I reminded the front desk of the rate code which I paid extra for and to deposit my points which has to be done manually! They assured it will be done. I did not receive my points! It is not my job to verify the the hotel honestly gave me my points that I paid for extra. Clearly the hotel management is lousy and irresponsible, borderline fraudulent for taking my money and not giving me the points unless I take time to complain!…
This hotel is dirty, feels grimy and smells. I am by no means a snob or have unrealistic expectations. We stay exclusively at Marriot hotels, and have never been disappointed. Until now that is. Unfortunately we are stuck here for a few days and regretting it. I have stayed at cleaner Motel 6s and Econo lodges. Marriott should be embarrassed to have their name associated with this dump.
I've stayed in many of the Aiken hotels and while this is not the newest hotel, it is the cleanest with the most responsive staff. I was very disappointed with the local Hilton hotels and prefer the Fairfield mainly due to the cleanliness.
