This is a well maintained survivor from the days when the Richmond Highway was the main route south from DC. It offers old-school touches like windshield-washing equipment in the parking lot, artificial flowers in the bathroom, and real metal keys. The staff is friendly and helpful; the rooms are clean and comfortable; it's easily accessed from the Interstate: and the...

The reviews of this property from previous guests sold me on our recent booking. I wondered how could a motel rated " Excellent " with Tripadvisor be so reasonable. Our room was very clean, spacious, updated bath, had both a microwave and large fridge, free Wifi and parking. The owner drove us to the nearby Metro station and we were...

I needed a convenient, pleasant, clean place to stay in Alexandria. I found it here. Nothing fancy but clean, quiet, convenient and I would go back in a New York minute. Why pay the high rates of the big chains when all you are looking for is a clean place to sleep and shower. Park your car right outside your...

I found this on Trip advisor after seaching for months for anything convenient that didn't cost a fortune. Located on a busy highway, but traffic noise wasn't a problem. Every morning when we needed to get to the Metro, someone would drive us up and drop us off. They told us how to catch the bus back, if needed. A...

After looking at prices in downtown Washington we had decided to skip it from our itinerary until someone suggested staying somewhere on a metro route and getting the train in. We chose this one at just under $100 a night and were very pleased. The staff are friendly and helpful, the rooms clean and comfortable and the trip into Washington...

Their sign on Route 1 says, "Spend a night, not a fortune." Well put. Based on the reviews here, I made a reservation and then pulled up and thought I made a big mistake. It's right on Route 1 which is about 10 lanes wide. It looks like it was new about 75 years ago, which it was. The proprietors...

I have often preferred a stay in an older, more comfortable lodging (just like me!), rather than the newest chain motels which seem to be almost universal these days. This Budget Host was built about fifty years ago, and the original owner is still alive, although not actually managing the property. There were many nice touches - breakfast included coffee,...

Although the price is reasonable for the DC area, and the staff were very nice, I would never stay there again for several reasons: The room smelled awful (combination of stale smoke and another odd odor - we didn't even want to eat food in the room); the ancient AC hardly worked; the bathroom had someone's soiled t-shirt hanging behind...

First of all, I couldn't agree more with all the previous good reviews. This homey, family run motel is the best choice you could make for your trip to DC area. As their sign says outside..."Once you stay here, you'll come back" Nicely said, and, I Will.
