I stayed at the Highlander a numerous times when, post 911, I had to do a lot of military reserve duty in Arlington. They were always good to me and it sure was nice to have a place to stay which was within walking distance of my duty station. I returned to the Highlander last week for the funeral of...

We had a very nice weekend stay at Highlander Motel. Staff was helpful and knowledgeable, location perfect for visiting Washington. Place may be outdated but it was clean and rooms comfortable. I will definitely recommend this motel to my friends. Agata - Toronto, Canada

The Highlander is an honest to goodness urban motel. It is very good value for money. We stayed there for eight nights and used the subway from nearby Virginia Square to go into Washington DC. The rooms are a good size and clean and comfortable. The breakfast is of good quality and the maid service is prompt and efficient. The...

The Motel may be older but the rooms were updated with nice furniture and carpet and very clean with a walk shower. The matresss in both rooms were full size and a little dated. The continental breakfast was nice with three or four choices of fresh fruit, donuts, begels and yogurt. Coffee was a little strong for my liking. The...

We are traveling around the states in a RV. Wanted to see Washington. Found this motel and booked in for two days. It was much cheaper to do this that park in the closest RV park and use public transport to travel to and from. It is in a great location has plenty of good restaurant around. Just next to...

The exterior of this facility belies its true nature. The outside looks much the same as any motel/motor lodge, but the inside is very nice. It is very clean, the rooms are large, the amenities are very sufficient, and the beds are comfortable. There are eateries nearby (recommend the Silver Diner which is a short walk away.) Also, the metro...

Our family of 4 stayed 5 nights at Highlander in mid-May. We had a rental car which we picked up from Dulles Airport, and the free parking in Highlander together with its close proximity to two metro stations and downtown DC suited our needs since we rode the metro often to visit DC. For those aspects alone, the price was...

We have been to the Highlander many times(our kids moved to the DC area). This is a great value Motel, not a luxury Hotel. I have traveled with my parents three of those times(my dad is 81); we get adjoining rooms and they love it. (Our room requests were met each time, but were reminded that requests are not a...

The Highlander is not for those looking for luxury. Please go elsewhere if that's your thing. However, if you are like the rest of us and prefer to spend your hard earned cash actually enjoying the sights & sounds of your vacation destination - stay here! It is a 4 minute walk from the Virginia Square-GMU Metro (Orange Line) Station...
