We chose the Tropical hotel for one night to meet our river cruise boat which left from their dock. If you don't have this reason to stay there you might want to look elsewhere. The hotel is isolated from the city and is about 8 miles to downtown. The hotel grounds are huge and they have gardens and a small...

It was a lovely looking hotel with a very good breakfast to set me up for the day. Rooms were large and bed comfortable...BUT the hotel was very noisy throughout the 2 nights I stayed there. If you want peace and quiet this is not the place to go.

Pros: the location is good, pool is refreshing, tour bookings are available on site. Their small zoo is interesting but kinda of depressing. A bus stop to downtown is closeby Cons: lots and lots of walking due to the size of hotel, rooms are dark and reeks of 1975, breakfast buffet room needs working A/C, front desk staff is indifferent,

The hotel was great!!! The breakfast offered plenty of things to eat and drink. The receptionists were very helpful and always willing to help. The bedroom was big, comfortable, pintoresque and cozy. The bathroom was very clean and roomy. I highly recommend it!!!!!

Convenient from Eduardo Gomez airport in the very pretty Porta Negra area. Historic Hotel still has charm. yes detractors will say its aged and that is the charm - you wont find a more interesting historic hotel . Rooms clean. Grounds immaculate. Well kept zoo.. animals look well cared for. The jaguar and ocelot really do need a habitat much...

Rated 5 star but only deserves 2 at best! This hotel is huge, but that's as far as it goes, I booked a superior room and the room they put me in was certainly large but very sparsely furnished. The bed was very hard and the only covering was a single sheet! The lighting was very poor and the bathroom...

Well placed down by the Rio Negro, this is an old style hotel ,dating back to the 1970s. Some 600 rooms and often busy. Lots of heavy dark woodwork and staircases. Good buffet meals. Not all of the rooms are the same standard - some still need renovating, so be careful.

We stayed here before and after our amazon cruise for one night. The good things are large rooms and clean. Wifi works well, zoo abd garden and pool area are nice. The bad, we ordered delux rooms with twin beds. No twin beds. Three pillows for 2 people, no cups, not enough towels, rooms were like a refrigerator and no...

When heading to one of the Amazon Eco lodges I asked the travel agent to book us in the nicest hotel in Manaus. They recommended the Tropical and quoted it as being a five star resort. The place is massive with pools, gardens and even a mini zoo. It fits the description of being tropical. The rooms are good sized...
