Excellent location, easy (15 minute) walk to the Pelourinho. Once I booked the hotel, Zelina emailed me and set up the taxi service from airport to hotel. It was very helpful to have this worked out ahead of time, when landing in a place as exciting but potentially disorienting as Salvador. Zelina also helped me figure out good places for...

This B&B was a wonderful base to explore the Old District - stylish and clean, Zelina was a wonderful and kind hostess, helping with arrangements. The room we had was large (so was the bed) with aircon and fridge, and a hammock in the window to boot! For our particular room we had to share a bathroom, but this was...

Checked out a number of pousadas online and Zelina got back to me within minutes and hours! We arrived late at night (about 12.30am) and she arranged an airport pick up (flawless) and we came out of arrivals tired and weary but met by a taxi with my name on it! A little out of the way, up in Carmo,...

I echo what the other reviewers have said: this is a very friendly small inn, very clean and well maintained. The breakfast is lovely and served around a communal table which makes for nice morning conversations. However the neighborhood is not safe. I was mugged in broad daylight on the street leading up to the Pelourinho. Another guest was mugged...

Unfortunately we only stayed one night, although it should have been more. The pousada is beautiful, with lovely two-tone wood floors and some interesting local artwork on the walls. The French-Brazilian owners were delightful and very welcoming, and sitting in the living room after breakfast reading a book from one of the shelves felt strangely like being at home. Indeed,...

I have returned only yesterday from my 2 week trip around Brazil and I want too share it with you. I have choosen this pousada because it was in lonely planet and because it had such good rates on Tripadvisor. It is good that I rely on Tripadvisor. I really enjoyed my stay there so much - I felt very...

Really enjoyed our stay at Pousada Baluarte. It is not the closest place to the Pelourinho but old Salvador is such a small place that it is easy to get about. Zelina and her 2 kids were very friendly and helpful - it is best if you can speak French as this is a French-Brazilian place. The breakfast was much...

Helpul and friendly; no Englsh spoken so a good place to practise Portuguese. Only 5 rooms but they are immaculate and the living room downstairs has a good collection of Brazilian music as well as guide books about Brazil. This pousada is slightly off the beatn track but that could be seen as advantage because it's away from the noise...
