We drove to Foz without booking, there are plenty of street sellers offering accommodation, so we took up the offer for pousada evelina, 110Brl for 1 night. This was a 70Brl discount if we had prebooked it. Accommodation is very basic and the 110 we paid was probably even too much. The room was full of ants, when asked the reception to come and spray them, he said ok, but never showed up.
We styed there only 2 nights but now i regret that we couldnt be there for long or actually work there !!! The Place has the best localization. Internet is verry ggood, staff is very friendly, helpfull, speak really good english. I mean i just dont know what to add as theis place is just perfect. I wouldnt reccommend it for Familly traveling with kids as it would just disturbe them same as it would disturbe young backpackers. Seriously Guys Thank You For Hospitality and Everything!!!
Very crowded pousada, we had no A/C or bathroom and had to sneak out early in the morning to get a shower in the bathroom next to the swimming pool (all others are taken very quickly). Breakfast OK, place is clean, location is safe, and the service is good. Evelina is very enthusiastic and "knows her way" to quickly get the passports stamped to get into Argentina, otherwise the lines at the border can be very very long (go as early as you can!). She kind of pushed us to a stop at the "3 countries border" and at "puerto Iguazu" (the town in argentina) even if nobody really wanted to stop there, but it was OK. You really get here only for the falls ...
Mdm Evelina is an enthusiastic and engaging host. Location between town and airport is convenient. Airport and Falls bus stop is only 100 metres away. (From airport, first traffic light has China Restaurant. Get down after next traffic light. ) Rooms and facilities are good. Breakfast buffet is substantial and delicious. Staff mostly competent although stressed in the morning when tours are going out. Very recommended.”
Not luxury, but who needs it when surrounded by such dramatic beauty. Used this pousada as a base to explore the Falls over a few days, as well as Paraguay (which wasn't so great). Also checked out Itaipu, the massive hydoelectric plant, which was impressive. Staff was friendly, albeit a bit busy, but once you get to know them, they are really quite nice and warm. Evelina daughter did a lot of the driving and was very sweet. Overall, would recommend, but remember it's basic, so save your breath for the Falls themselves :)
This Pousada is in a quite location, not too far from the bars and the restaurants and neither really far from the airport. evelina is a nice and freindly lady. we had a good time in this posada even if the night is a bit scary cos it might be the perfect location of an horror movie. kidding. good choice
I travelled around parts of Brazil and it definitely was one of the nicest places I stayed. Evelina is lovely. The place is very clean, there's hot water and everyone who works there speaks excellent English. I went on their tour package to see the Iguassu Falls on the Brazilian and Argentinian which was fantastic! The downside was that she was quite pushy about us doing the tour with her rather than make our own way there but it was actually less hassle. I'm sure it's definitely is easy to get to the falls but we were short on time and this was an easy option. We were also able to pay her for the entrance fee and for the activities we wanted to do there. I'm sure it was cheaper to book the activities with her then to pay there but you'd need to check with her. Great place to stay, lovely staff.…
As mentioned in a previous review the Pousada is in a nice quite location - not too far away from the bars and restaurants. The rooms are small, but they are clean. The bed was comfy and the room had air-conditioning. The shower was good and we never had a problem with getting hot water - bonus. On arrival we were made very welcome and in reception you can find out a wealth of information about the local area and tourist attractions. hey also sell cold drinks and snacks - which thay let you run a tab and pay at the end of your stay. The pool is small, but clean and a great way to cool off after walking all day around the Falls - the pool stays open until 9pm. Breakfast starts early (7am) which was great for us as were were getting up and out early. The selection is good - standard Brazilian fare fruits, cakes, bread, ham and cheese. The staff were all friendly and helpful. On arrival Lilian, the receptionist, helped us arrange our evening meal, by recommending a local SteakHouse which picked us up, we had a "meat feast" which a huge selection of salad and dessert and our ride back all for R$53 - great. A great place to stay on a budget.…
The pousada is located on a quiet neighbourhood street, a few steps from a local bus stop and a short walk to a grocery store. We actually stayed at the hotel next door, the Charm Suites, but after a negative experience with a booked tour through the owner, we found ourselves spending quite a bit of time at Evelina Pousada. The owner, Evelina is a very sweet lady who is multilingual. We booked our tour to the Argentinian side of the Iguassu Falls with her and had a wonderful experience. She took the time to explain the tour, provided us with tags, contact information and maps in case we got lost. She even suggested places to eat that would be affordable. After such a positive experience we also arranged a dinner to a Brazilian Ateakhouse (with transportation) with Evelina making the booking. She was kind enough to invite us to sit in the common areas or by the pool while we waited.…
We stayed three days in Iguacu (which is the default stay time since you need one day to visit the Brazilian side of the falls, one other day to visit the Argentinian side and the last you can go to the Itaipu Dam or to Paraguay). The small pousada is very comfortable, located in a quiet neighborhood, with a nice pool and not-so-bad rooms (for Brazilian standards...). It's located near the bus stop to both sides of the falls, and near to Foz city centre, with a very good churrascaria and a big market. The breakfast is really really good, plenty of fruits, cakes and sandwiches. I've said be careful with the owner because the nice Evelina, a multilingual (Portuguese, Italian, French, English, Spanish, whatever... ) speaking lady is always available to help guests go visit Iguacu, but she's also a tourist agent. So if you ask her too many informations you may start your journey with all the tickets purchased by her, or ending in a guided tour (she's the guide of course) to the falls. I'm not saying that's bad, but getting around there is very easy (passing the border between Brazil and Argentina too, everything is perfectly organized and people is always available to help tourists) so you may prefer doing that by yourself, not arranging a tour. That's what we found to be a little unfair, she and her staff presents things much more complex than they really are, just to say at the end "but of course you can book the tour with us". Just to make an example, at the checkout the person at the desk was surprised that we were paying a low price, just to discover that we didn't take the Argentina tour with Evelina. We felt like they know exactly what to sell to tourists, and try hard to do so, and they expect everyone to pay the same. If you want to have everything arranged by others, that's the place to go, otherwise you've been warned :) In both cases the place is good, and it's really worth the price.…
