It is my second time there and will be returning very soon. Absolutely perfect stay. The moment you walk thru the doors, a very warm welcome by Marcia to all staff members across the pousada. One of the best breakfasts you can wish for, white tablecloths, on a veranda, so much great fresh food. Amazingly clean. Pictures will do the rest. Pousada well connected to great tour companies, massage services, etc. And don't forget to try the Argentine empanadas at the bar! Thank you again for the whole team!

My trip to Búzios was entirely impromptu and last-minute and I didn’t have much time to plan for it. I had to quickly decide a place to stay. As I was looking through the hotels in buzios, I thought it would be good idea to stay in Pousadas, since most of them I saw on the internet were so beautiful. I was confused but something about Pousada Vila do Mar caught my eye and I decided to go for it. The reviews helped me in my decision but I was still skeptical. I was glad that I took the right decision as I wasn’t disappointed at all when I finally arrived here. The place was beautiful, cozy, old fashioned, comforting, and on top of it, the people at the Pousada, the owner Mário José, the receptionist Márcia and the entire staff were incredibly vibrant, kind and warm hearted people I have ever met and this made my stay multiple folds better. The food was supremely divine and everything was fresh and delicious. The location is good, all the good restaurants, supermarkets, medical stores were at walking distance and very close to Búzios pier. I would still go back to this place whenever I am in Búzios.

A very rustic hotel located less than a minute from the pier, water taxis, and the two main streets for shopping, booking tours and dining. Having visited Buzios multiple times, this was the first property where I was close enough to the key points of interest that I really did not need a car unless visiting the beaches on the opposite side of the peninsula. The room was spacious, had a view of the sea and excellent air conditioning. There was a comfortable queen-sized bed in the bedroom and two single sofa beds in the living room, each with both foam and down pillows. Other amenities included a flat screen TV, ceiling fan, a small refrigerator stocked with water, soda and beer for purchase, and a nook with a desk for working. The bathroom has an exceptionally large shower and good water pressure. The Wi-Fi worked fine for both cell phone and computer in most areas of the room. The roughhewn beams combined with this being an older structure provided the rustic look. Some items are worn, outdated or in need of repair, but overall, the room was quite comfortable. I found the décor and ambience pleasant, but if you are expecting a modern five-star hotel, you would be let down. If arriving from North America, be sure to carry several USA to Brazil/Europe plug adapters for your power cables. Starting as you pass through the gates at the entrance of the property you enter what is literally a garden of lush tropical plants. Picturesque cut stone steps lead up through the gardens to the reception area. Since the hotel is built on the side of a hill, there are quite a few steps to climb from street level up to the highest room locations. Limited mobility persons should be aware that there are no elevators and the ability to climb stairs is a must. The hotel staff were all very pleasant, professional, multilingual (at least English, Spanish, & Portuguese), and will help getting your luggage to and from your room. Welcome drink coupons were provided at check-in. Breakfast was included in the room price and was very enjoyable. Due to COVID, the hotel has implemented an early (7:30-9:00)) and late seating (9:00-10:30) to avoid crowding. Never were more than four tables occupied during our stay. I found nothing lacking as they brought to our table coffee, a variety of juices, fresh tropical fruits, different types of breads, eggs, pancakes, tapioca, ham, cheeses, pate, granola, yogurt, and condiments. All served at the tables located on a large second floor balcony. As you eat breakfast, all your senses are sated with the peaceful garden surroundings, views of the sea, a wonderful breeze, and pleasant background music. Each morning I was sorry to see breakfast come to an end. Finally, due to the location being near the shopping, restaurants and bars, at night you will hear music coming from some of the nearby restaurants and bars. It wasn't very loud, and I was able to sleep with no problem, but if you are a light sleeper or need complete silence to sleep I recommend using earplugs.

This very charming pousada is perfectly located right in the center and therefore close to everything. It is decorated simply but the patio and terrace a very charming with trees everywhere. We were a little bit disappointed with the standard of the room as they call all the rooms “suites” which can be a bit misleading as it generally entails bigger more luxury rooms. The room was cute but the sheets were old and had moule stains on them, could be refreshed to new ones. However the staff was lovely and very helpful in finding good restaurants, beaches etc. The pool is small but clean! Be aware that there is a lot of noise at night, we had a room with a road right behind it and no window so we could hear the cars passing by at night.

This is probably the most charming hotel I’ve stayed at in a very long time. The garden is full of plants and tall trees, and the dining room is beautifully decorated. Breakfast is very good with freshly made orange juice and scrambled eggs (ask the kind lady for it). We stayed in a large room with a sofa, a hammock and small patio - a bit moist and unfortunately mostly without hot water in the shower - but quiet and cozy. But in the weekends you can hear the music from a nearby nightclub, so bring some earplugs , if you are sensitive to noise at night. Also a friendly staff and good cafes and a smal square around the corner. Highly recommended.

THE ROOM Although we didn't had any reservation we still got a very nice room with seaview. It was really spacious, in addition to the sleeping area which was separated by a wood truss there was a living room area with a small kitchen and a large white leather sofa. The room featured a view of the ocean, directed towards sunset. The bathroom was big too, with a two-person-shower. THE HOTEL The resort is perfectly located: it's right at the beginning of the centre where the market and all the bars and restaurants are. Regardless it is still very quiet and features seaview rooms. For us the location was ideal since we could walk everywhere. The design is gorgeous, the path to our room took uf trough a leafy exotic garden which was well maintained. It's not a huge resort but that makes it even more familiar. They have a outdoor pool but it is very small. Breakfast was very good, we could eat right at the poolside which was very nice. Staff wasn't noticeable friendly but ok. OUR RECOMMENDATION We really loved our stay in Buzios. The streets were empty during the day (which irritated a lot when we arrived), and also the beaches weren't crowded since tourists spread over the many beaches around Buzios. However the streets come to life all the more at night. This resort was located perfectly for our needs (beach during the day, strolling through the alley in the evening).

I am a brazilian as well as a carioca and so have been many times to Búzios. I have stayed at friend´s houses, rented homes and also many hotel so I feel quite at ease about giving my opinion. Vila do Mar is in a splendid location for afternoon/ night life because you can do everything walking: go to restaurants, bars, shops and so on without having to worry about parking, drinking & driving, and so on. There are many beaches in Búzios but the best ones are apart from the city centre so you do need a car anyway (15/20 mn drive aprox.). Is it expensive? Búzios is an expensive place in a country that has become expensive for everyone, natives as well as foreigners. You will find all kind of rates in the city but what they offer in exchange is sometimes really depressing and not worthwhile. This hotel has big rooms, some with beautiful view. Beds and pillows are comfy, There is air conditioning and very good breakfast (this is not a plus because all brazilian hotel tend to be good in this aspect). I am always looking for new places to stay (so as to save the extra bucks) but always end up here.

We went here with a friend after staying in another backpack not as well situated. No reservation, we just got there in the afternoon and booked for two nights. The price was 240 Reais per Night, we can easily fit 3 people in the room. The room was ok : one queen size Bed, one normal Bed and a hammock, a tv and a very affordable "mini bar". A little private terrace is also available. Not very foccused on decoration, i can only say there was a big painting on the wall closed to the bed i slept on. The 2 main qualities of this poussada are : * Its location : in a perpendicular street of "the" main street of Buzios, you'll find anyhting very close without being disturbed by the noise. * The atmosphere of the whole poussada, very green, lot of plants everywhere. A nice Pergola next to the swimming pool (kind of small) is really relaxing. Nothing to say about the personnal i did not need them so much and as we stayed late in the room cleaning women did not come. Very nice trip there !

I hate to write a bad review, but in the case I feel it is necessary. I stayed at Vila Do Mar for my honeymoon last year and the staff really ruined our stay there. The hotel itself is nice and well decorated. The location is great as well, right downtown and within walking distance to many great restaurants. Anyway, the unfortunate part began when they didn't have our reservation, after multiple attempts to pay online and email to confirm it... from there we were put in a room where the A/C unit was leaking and dripping on to the corner of the bed. We got an upgrade in rooms to switch to an 'ocean view' room (great room), but there our camera and cell phone went missing from the room. After checking all possibilities we brought it up with the management and they basically told us to look more, that we had lost it ourselves- which was impossible, as they hadn't left the room. From there things were a bit uncomfortable, the management just stopped talking with us instead of working out the issues. They had no interest in our satisfaction. It was very unfortunate, because the hotel has so much potential. I have to say that I can not recommend anyone stay there.
