An excellent place, close to Rio de Janeiro. Good rooms, attentive and gentle staff. Nice pool and external areas. I suggest the hotel pay attention to its restaurant, the meals aren't very good and for this they are expensive. Besides having a good breakfast, they should improve the meals and offer many options of "home made" food. No doubt about recommending Terracota Hotel. Regards.
Just outside of Petrópolis, the Brazilian Imperial Summer Capital, you will find the village of Secretário with its mountains and green forests. A little before you reach the village, on the right side of the road, stands Terracota Hotel. It's cozy, clean, sided by a small lake, surrounded by trees and beautiful views. It's a small hotel, looking much more like a "pousada", the Portuguese word signifying a small hotel. The rooms are comfortable and breakfast, included in the rate, is above average. Terracota might be a good option for honeymooners in some months of the year. I was there for a weekend during July, the month when Brazilian schools are closed for winter vacations, and Terracota was fully booked with lots of children running around. But, and there is always a but: you do need a car (the hotel is in the middle of nowhere and the parking area is not so big), there are stairs and more stairs all over (if you have any problem of mobility, please don't go) and the stairs inside our suite were very, very dangerous (handrails and guardrails are insufficient or not existing, what makes the room extremely dangerous for children and elder citizens). They may have rooms not so dangerous as mine, so please do inquiry carefull before booking.…
