If you want to wake up with a view of Central Rio, stay here. If you would rather a little more luxury, go elsewhere. The staff were very friendly and helpful, but the venue is a little tricky for taxi drivers to find, and requires a bit ofa trek up hill, but is the well situated near Central Rio. The...

We honestly loved everything! The view is just so stunning that having meals on such a terrace should immediately upgrade this hostel by two stars. The staff is super helpful and friendly and the main areas are monitored 24/7 which makes you feel very safe in this big city. The design of the place is also really cool. We stayed...

Stayed here for 4 days. It is very close to lapa which is great for people who want to party and explore that area. For those people who'd rather stay close to the beaches I wouldn't recommend it, although with the metro it is doable, it can be quite a hassle. For people who have issues walking up hills I...

Nice hostel with comfortable double rooms with balcony in Santa Teresa. The views are amazing over downtown. We had a shared bathroom but it's really only shared with one other room. Breakfast was good, served on a lovely terrace. Prices were high as the world cup was on but normally this would be a good budget option. Santa Teresa is...

We had a great time at Terra Brasilis in the superior suite with a spectacular view over the city!! It's a really beautiful and clean hostel. The staff is nice but a little bit impersonal and the breakfast could be better. Nonetheless we had great 5 days at Terra Brasilis in the wonderful neighborhood of Santa Teresa and we definetly...

Stayed at Terra Brasilis for 3 nights in Jan, and was very pleased with our choice. Booked superior room with private bathroom, which was possibly the best room in the building with the best balcony view across Lapa. Room was spacious, basic and fairly clean. Most staff very helpful and friendly. Breakfast buffet was included, was very basic but cannot complain....

Localizated in the uptown of center of Rio, Terra Brasilis has an privileged location in Santa Tereza that gives an astonishing view, encompasing Bahia de Guanabara; Santos Dumont airport;  the boiling and crazy neighborhood of Lapa;  downtown; Central Station; and Maracana Football Stadium. Thanks to an important investment of capital, this antique house was reloaded and converted in preferred choosing of...

This hostel is really very nice. We stayed here twice. First time in suite 1, highly recommended! It is a spaceous room with beautiful terrace and the best view ever. Even the view from the bathroom makes you want to stay there. On our second stay this room was unfortunately booked so we got another room, on the lowest floor....

Staying in Santa Teresa

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Teresa
Santa Teresa is a bohemian enclave hosting many local artists’ studios. The narrow, winding streets of this neighbourhood were revitalised years ago, and visitors can now stroll through this area to view magnificent mansions dating back to the late 19th and early 20th century. A highlight not miss: Museu Chacará do Céu, a former mansion turned museum which houses works by prominent Brazilian modern artists.
