Booked to stay for 3 nights, ended up staying a week. Was the best hostel of our entire 6 month trip in South America! Staff are super friendly and the owner Filipe goes out of his way to make sure you have the best time in his amazing city!! Good location, close to good nightlife and bus stops to all...

This is up there for one of my favourite hostels on the planet. It's a party place, so please don't get me wrong, but the owner is an absolute legend, and the people you meet I can guarantee will be friends for life. If I ever go back to Rio, I'm definitely staying here.

Clean dorms with big locker space under most bunk beds as well as smaller lockers for use, however the main downfall was the amount of bathrooms/showers. Only two bathrooms with one shower and toilet each upstairs between approximately 50+ guests. There are two showers downstairs but next to the bar and common room area isn't ideal. Staff all very friendly...

The hostel is really nice, has a good living and bar. The breakfast is reeally good, comparing to other hostels, they had fresh fruit and bread. Our rooms was perfect, with air conditioning and fans in the roof. If you are looking for a calm hostel, dont go there, because the music is really loud until 11 when they turn...

This hostel can be perfect for someone looking for a value deal. It has decent breakfast to offer, centrally located, friendly and very informative staff. There are hardly any restrictions, in fact you will often see main staff/owner chilling around, talking to other fellow travellers! Overall a good vibe! I stayed during new years, and hostel sorted a nice setup...

I stayed here over Christmas and New Year and would highly recommend to anyone looking to have a good time! There's something to do most nights around Lapa and usually a good group of people to do stuff with during the day. Everyone working there is really friendly too

I stayed her for three nights in June 2016 with friends, this is a brilliant hostel for meeting people to explore Brazil with and to party. The hostel is definitely a party hostel- its loud during the night, it isn't the cleanliest hostel you will every stay in but it is very good fun. Its in an amazing location and...

The breakfast is amazing, loads of fruit cereal and yummy toasties do you need anything more? Even though rio is an amazing city, the best thing were the evenings...

Books hostel is for sure a hostel you would want to visit if you like to party and talk to a lot of people. The atmosphere is always great and the owner Felipe is always helpful. One of the things he helped me with was researching for places in Rio where I could buy the perfect bikini. Thank you Felipe,...

Staying in Santa Teresa

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Teresa
Santa Teresa is a bohemian enclave hosting many local artists’ studios. The narrow, winding streets of this neighbourhood were revitalised years ago, and visitors can now stroll through this area to view magnificent mansions dating back to the late 19th and early 20th century. A highlight not miss: Museu Chacará do Céu, a former mansion turned museum which houses works by prominent Brazilian modern artists.
