I stayed there for 7 nights in double room. Location is good in a very safe part of Rio - Botafago. Easy access from the GIG airport by 2018 bus, the bus stop is about 600 m away. I walked to the hostel at 11 pm without any problem. 400 m to the metro station. Room was very small, clean....

Great place if you're looking for a inexpensive hostel. It's close to restaurants and bus stops. The staff was very nice. The room was clean and the breakfast was good. Plenty to eat. They had Wi-Fi but we needed to be in the lobby to use it. For a hostel, it was good. We had two single beds and a...

Vila Carioca Hostel was an amazing place to stay when in Rio! The staff is super-friendly and lovely, always helping with everything. The hostel is situated in a peaceful area, but very close to Botafogo metro station. The rooms are clean and the environment is very positive. I will definitely return in this hostel, when coming to Rio again. Loved...

As most of the hostels in RJ, Vila Carioca is expensive with very poor service. Rooms: Awful, with terrible beds and bed clothing. Almost no space between the beds and when half of the room is full, it´s impossible to have the minimum space to organize your stuffs after or before shower, for instance. Bathrooms: Another bad experience. The 12...

The hostel is in a backyard in a quiet street in Botafogo district. You may go to the beach (Copacabana or Ipanema) by metro, the Botafogo station is nearby. Breakfast is included in price. The rooms are rather clean and tidy. There is also a nice lobby with sofas and TV. I also loved the lazy cat living there :)

This hostel is great ONLY if you get a good room and don't have any problems that need dealing with by the staff. We had both terrible and positive experiences during our 3 night stay. Note - We had made reservations via Internet well in advance. We dropped off our bags early that morning and "checked in" but weren't able...

I spent 3 weeks in Vila Carioca Hostel a few years ago, and think of it as one of the best hostels I have ever stayed in. Centrally located in a quiet and safe district in Botafogo, with easy access to Ipanema, Copocabana, sugar loaf mountain and Santa Teresa, this place is popular amongst Brazilians and foreign tourists alike. I...

Stayed here for a week and really enjoyed my stay. A couple minutes walk from the botafogo metro station, Vila Carioca is located in one of the most convenient and central spots in Rio. I came here to train capoeira and see the sights in my free time, so this was perfect for me (since I didn't need to be...

It is a three-floored house located in a village what create a cosy atmosphere. It is close to subway station (Botafogo) and not far to downtown, Lapa, Sugar Loaf and Corcovado, Copacabana, etc. It is very clean. Nice people who works there makes you feel at home. Breakfast is simple, but good enough. There is a female room (what is...

Neighbourhood Profile
Botafogo
In recent years, Botafogo has become one of the hottest neighbourhoods in Rio. It hosts many modern restaurants with contemporary food and many venues to listen to rock and electronic music. Its numerous bars and pubs make this area a great choice for anyone interested in a great nightlife experience - in fact, some bars in the area are open all night. Casa Daros, an art museum that showcases amazing artists from Latin America, is a must see located in a historical building in Botafogo.
