Casa Amarelo is a step back in time, it's suited to people looking for a different experience other than run of the mill and standard; it's quirky and for those who want to see the 'real' Brazil.... Walk up to St. Teresa and enjoy the excellent restaurants, down to Lapa and enjoy the nightlife, laze by the pool and enjoy...

Nice place, kind people and good food but room was narrow and not very clean. I found wonderful the quality of breakfast and lunch too. I loved the kindness of the girls and boy at the reception and in the kitchen

A wonderful oasis in Rio. A beautifully restored grand home in Santa Teresa, one of Rio's best neighbourhoods. The staff is excellent, and the rooms are stately, but intimate. This was as a highlight of my trip to Rio.

When planning my trip, I initially felt conflicted about the "safe" hotels on Copa and Ipanema, and found that the Posados were the way to go in Rio. Picking Casa Amarello really made my holiday and I can't recommend it enough. Living in Santa Teresa is Rio. Walking the Rua San Martin is Rio. The hotel is a beautiful fusion...

In the hills of the old fashioned Santa Teresa neighborhood of Rio de Janeiro, this old european style mansion is a place to be discovered. The entrance of the hotel with a tunnel that leads to a small antique lift is a reminder that something special is about to come. And it's right. Casa Amarelo is a great lodging experience...

I was a bit disappointed by my room because of the size and lack of decoration but I had the single. It was a beautiful hotel overall and the staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful. I would highly recommend staying here.

The hotel was located in Santa Teresa. Upon arrival we viewed the beautiful rooms that were spacious, designer decorated and comfortable. The beds are excellent, the showers were big and supplied with refined amenities. A bottle of water is also provided every day. The common rooms are beautiful as well as the gardens that makes it hard to believe we...

The best thing with Casa Amarelo and the reason why coming here is the space you will find everywhere; the rooms, the living room/public area, the garden, the pool area etc. Casa Amarelo got a very nice pool and is located a little higher up from the house surrounded by green area, bushes, trees etc. Good breakfast where the staff...

Staying in Santa Teresa

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Teresa
Santa Teresa is a bohemian enclave hosting many local artists’ studios. The narrow, winding streets of this neighbourhood were revitalised years ago, and visitors can now stroll through this area to view magnificent mansions dating back to the late 19th and early 20th century. A highlight not miss: Museu Chacará do Céu, a former mansion turned museum which houses works by prominent Brazilian modern artists.
