Staying here you would never guess that you're two streets away from Rio's liveliest clubbing in Lapa. The suites are spacious and beautifully decorated, maintaining much of the old world charm. The lounge areas offer many peaceful options for reading or contemplating spectacular views. Staff are friendly and efficient, the service surpasses my experiences at some of the top 4...

The hotel is an amazing place to stay in. Big cosy rooms, all very charming decorated. The location is just perfect for a stay in Rio. The staff went all the way to make us feel at home. We had some trouble with our rented car and the staff spent hours on there own time to help us... We cannot...

The highlight of our two week trip to brasil was the three days spent at this hidden gem of a hotel. The house is a historical marvel, the food is excellent, the rooms are great and the pool is perfect. The service is relaxed and time moves slowly here - shift down a gear to enjoy your stay.

Casa Amarelo is one of the most beautiful hotels I have ever stayed. I and my husband visited Rio in 2012 and we stayed in Casa Amarelo. The place is beautiful, the rooms are extraordinary, the hotel is very stylish and people are very kind. The only disadvantage was that the staff did not speak english only the hotel manager,...

Wonderful little home hidden in Santa Teresa. Walking distance to Lapa area for dinner and shopping. Wonderful staff... breakfast delicious! Small and quaint, so not a lot of guest "noise". Perfect for a couple get-away.

We have stayed a couple times in this unique romantic place. The rooms are beautiful and clean. The kitchen staff are sweet and they do a great job. The only down side is the managment. Their price for drinks, breakfast and extras are way too much for what you get. Also, you are nit allowed to use the facilities once...

Our stay at the Casa Amarelo could have only been better if it had been longer! Such a beautiful and charming home with breathtaking views of the city from the house, gardens, and the pool. Beautifully decorated and appointed rooms with original designs. Our stay was topped off with the excellent staff, who were most helpful, gracious and made us...

We greatly enjoyed our time at Casa Amarelo. It felt much more like staying in an old home. It's not for everyone (as evidenced by some of the negative reviews), but for us quite charming, quirky and comfortable. We enjoyed sitting up at the pool sipping a Cachça while watching the birds, riding the old elevator up to our room,...

We stayed here for one night over carnaval and were able to walk to and from the sambadrome (and felt safe). We felt it was quite expensive, but understand that everywhere is around carnival! The staff were fantastic, so lovely, friendly and welcoming, it was like going to stay with family!! The building itself is quite unusual as it's an...

Staying in Santa Teresa

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Teresa
Santa Teresa is a bohemian enclave hosting many local artists’ studios. The narrow, winding streets of this neighbourhood were revitalised years ago, and visitors can now stroll through this area to view magnificent mansions dating back to the late 19th and early 20th century. A highlight not miss: Museu Chacará do Céu, a former mansion turned museum which houses works by prominent Brazilian modern artists.
