I previously wrote a review about The Lighthouse, prior to my stay. This is my follow up review now, post-trip to Rio: My friend and I had an absolutely wonderful stay in The Lighthouse, mostly made possible by Roberta (the owner) and Melissa (who mans the desk during the day when Roberta leaves). I stayed at the Lighthouse for 5...

I stayed here for a couple of nights when I arrived in Rio and was very impressed. Location was ideal and the place was very nice. The staff were very helpful and friendly and made quite an impression, thank you to all who made my stay pleasurable.

Caveat: I haven't actually stayed here yet. But I wanted to review The Lighthouse because it has already been a good experience. Unbeknownst to me, Hostelworld screwed up something with the pricing for my booking of a room at The Lighthouse. When I booked last October, all I saw was a very well-rated hostel in the location I wanted to...

Stayed at the LightHouse, Ipanema for 4 nights in January 2016. Basis accommodations located about 3 blocks from the beach, close to subway, restaurants, shops, etc. Roberta was great at giving budget advice on how to get to and see all the things you want to do in Rio, just wish I would have had more time to do them...

This is a great hostel. It's small and quiet with one private room and one dorm room. It's very clean and the management is very friendly/helpful. I can't say enough about Roberta. She speaks English very well and truly wants you to enjoy your stay. She gives you travel advice, helps you book tours etc (which you'd expect at most...

The Lighthouse has just recently changed ownership and the new owner Roberta is going out of her way to freshen the place up and put her stamp on it (it's got a whole new decor!) A nice non-party hostel in a great location, everywhere you might want to get to is about a 10 minute walk or less away. It...

The LightHouse Hostel is fantastic for a hostel stay in Rio. Located in the lovely neighborhood of Ipanema just a few blocks back from the beach and on the opposite side the lake is only a short distance. The hostel is also close to the metro station as well as restaurants, bars, cafes and nightclubs. I was very comfortable staying...

A truly brilliant little hostel. Silvia and her staff are fantastic - kind, thoughtful and helpful. Excellent breakfast. Excellent internet. Clean. Good hot showers. Very well located in Ipanema - close to the beach, metro and bars and restaurants. Rio does have a security problem but Ipanema is gentler and more refined than adjacent Copacabana.I recommend The Lighthouse without reservation...

It's an okay tiny hostel. We couldn't find anything else in then area. The location is good but the hostel is basically a tiny duplex with 2 small bathrooms . You have no privacy anywhere except in the bathrooms. the AC is only allowed to be turned on from 10 pm to morning . In January and December is very...
