We were given a free night by our tour operators here so accepted but after reading some of the reviews on here I considered not bothering. Im so glad I did bother. Sure, it isnt luxurious, but guess what its not luxurious prices. As a budget hostel I think it is a great place. Sure the place does need some...

I stayed in Rio Backpackers for two nights after arriving tired and flustered I recieved a warm welcome and a free welcome drink, which was a nice touch. The room was clean and tidy, it had a fan if it got too hot which was nice to have. The staff were friendly and helpful which is what you want as...

I came to this hostel as it was recommended to me by a friend. From the first night til the day I left I had an incredible time. The staff were all so accommodating and kind. They became a second family to me. I actually decided to stay for nearly two months (cool discount for long stays!). It was definitely...

Ok, so this is a hostel, but I don't think it's an excuse to slacken off on the bare essentials. Brazil is NOT a 3rd world country!! A note to the owner, Adriana- this is nothing to do with our countries being less "relaxed" than Brazil this is about providing a very basic service. After a very long flight to...

Stayed during Carnaval 2012. For the rate charged the conditions of the rooms were terrible- very dirty and another traveller had bed bugs. The toilets were the worst, they needed repair work and cleaning. Also there were only two showers and two toilets for all females in the hostel (excluding private baths). The staff, Doni, was really helpful and friendly...

Stayed here for a week while travelling across south brazil. If you have got heavy luggage it can be a nightmare as its up quite a steep hill. All of the staff are friendly and helpful especially the owners. The breakfast is basic but not to bad. They also arrange trips either up to the favelas or to one of...

Staying in Copacabana

Neighbourhood Profile
Copacabana
The rowdy Copacabana is one of the most traditional and old areas from Rio de Janeiro. This neighbourhood is a blend of Brazilian soul - crowded, rowdy and traditional. This neighbourhood has a bit of everything: bars with music, pubs, street fairs, chaotic streets, and many shops. All these things and more live side-by-side. There are options for all price points and tastes. However, the most powerful draw in Copacabana is still the fantastic view of the coast and the incredible beaches.
