Great place to stay when you're away from home and still miss some homely space. Wonderful staff. Wonderful owner! It's perfect and cheap for someone going to Rio for the first time or out of their country, for that matter. People out there are too helpful and friendly. It took almost no time to get friendly with each one of...

I had screwed up and booked a hotel about 3 hours north of Rio, so we ended up staying here, unfortunately due to the cup I guess prices already started to rise. We stayed in their only double room, which I am pretty sure was a converted closet. You walk in the door there is the bed, a cupboard to...

I originally booked 4 nights at the hostel before going to a hotel to finish my trip of 14 days in Rio, but ended up staying 5 nights and cancelling the hotel reservation. The hostel is in a nice leafy area surrounded by bars, cafes and supermarkets. In fact the hostel has a bar of its own which is frequented...

My friend and I love this place. The location is perfect; it's convenient to go to many places; it's in a safe and nice neighborhood. Rooms are clean and tidy. The layout is unique. The best part is the owner of the hostel. The guy has traveled to many different places and he is so funny! We drank with him...

There are pros and cons there. Let's start with the pros. The location of the hostel is perfect, close to everything and easy to get to the subway and buses. The staff is nice as well. Now the cons. The room I stayed in had too many bunk beds (4) for its size, which made the room a little bit...

Staying in Botafogo

Neighbourhood Profile
In recent years, Botafogo has become one of the hottest neighbourhoods in Rio. It hosts many modern restaurants with contemporary food and many venues to listen to rock and electronic music. Its numerous bars and pubs make this area a great choice for anyone interested in a great nightlife experience - in fact, some bars in the area are open all night. Casa Daros, an art museum that showcases amazing artists from Latin America, is a must see located in a historical building in Botafogo.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
f you are coming for carnaval, it is at 5 minutes drive fromsambodromo, where you can see the most dazzling celebration of world, and the parades of samba schools. Speaking of dancing, it is at 10 minutes drive by bus or subway from the well known bohemian district of Lapa, where the bars thrill with live music, not to mention the famous arcs built in 1750. So, there are hundreds of options, but if you prefer only to pour some beers, Dafoca bar, on the other side of the street, at half a minute walk is full of students (there are three universities in the area) ready to tell you how a Carioca (the natives from Rio de Janeiro) like to spend their moments and what’s their lifestyle like in the most marvelous city of Brazil. Inside the Brothers’ Hostel there’s the “Shelter”, a theme bar, with the world at your feet. If you prefer, you may have a tequila or a shot of whisky, but we recommend (with cachasa), a typical Brazilian drink. ... more   less
