Firstly, I'd like to note the positives of our stay. The rooms and facilities were clean, with our room specifically cleaned everyday. I found the cleaning staff kind and helpful even though I can't speak Portuguese. The price of the dorms is also fair, especially considering the time of year with Carnaval. Unfortunately, our stay was badly tainted by the...

I spent in that hostel 5 night in January/2017.. And I don't really recommend that place... The rooms were clean but general area not very nice, breakfast very poor. Most of the staff were totally unprofessional, they couldn't answer couple of basic question.. Plus I was witness of situation when owner screamed at the guests... Awful...!!! The only professional staff...

We got a 4 person delux room, which we had to ourselves. And it had our own bathroom. Air conditioning was very nice and wifi was pretty good. We asked about doing laundry, which we had seen the washing and drying machines. They said it costs 50 Brazilian real. What?! That's US$15!! Nope, no way. Washing it in the sink....

I definitely do not recommend this Hostel! The staff were very unprofessional. On the first night they had double booked one of the two beds we had booked in an 8 bed dorm. So at around 1am, with 2 of us already in the room, 7 guys come back from a night out and apparently I was in someone's bed....

A great hostel located really near the metro and Copacobana beach. We stayed in a 10 man dorm which was roomy and cool (after we asked for the aircon to be fixed). Bed sheets were the cleanest we've seen in 6 months of travelling and staying in hostels. It was very busy constantly around communal areas during our stay at...

The manager and the night reception guy are just plain rude. Morning girls are quite helpful though. Good breakfast not much of a social hostel and would not say it has a 'bar' you can get a beer from reception. Football plays all day on the TV in the communal area. Prices seem to change depending on who you are...

You get what you pay for, and I suppose I did go for cheap, but it had a feeling of a orphanage. I know hostels tend to be this way anyway, but the organisation was off, breakfast was poor. I must say it was clean. After a certain hour you're no longer allowed in the common area, and the security...

Great building with lovely outdoor areas and newly built accommodations and shared bathrooms....could be fantastic if it weren't for the terrible staff and money grabbing managers. Upon arrival was told need to pay extra municipal tax (8% mentioned in email but was charged 20% and staff couldn't explain why!) also wanted R$20 to store our belongings securely while we waited...

Stayed at this hostel with some friends and cannot fault the cleanliness. Our room for four guests was a good size and good location of you are wanting to stay in the Copacabana region in rio. The problem with this hostel was the unhelpful and Incompetent staff (on numerous occasions). We wanted to watch the football match that was ran...

I came home at 11pm at night to find they had packed my bags without my permission and shifted me rooms. They did this to accommodate another group that had booked and said they didn't ask for my permission as the internet was down. Then 2 days later they did exactly the same thing despite how angry I got at...

Staying in Copacabana

Neighbourhood Profile
Copacabana
The rowdy Copacabana is one of the most traditional and old areas from Rio de Janeiro. This neighbourhood is a blend of Brazilian soul - crowded, rowdy and traditional. This neighbourhood has a bit of everything: bars with music, pubs, street fairs, chaotic streets, and many shops. All these things and more live side-by-side. There are options for all price points and tastes. However, the most powerful draw in Copacabana is still the fantastic view of the coast and the incredible beaches.
