Casa da Gente is amazing and awesome. The art decorations are everywhere and gives a very creative and authentic atmosphere. The location is perfect for Rio center and at least 2 Metro stations as well as Escaderia. The view from our room was fantastic, with a small balcony and a hammock, overlooking part of the center. There is also a...

The hostel is very well located. The breakfast is fabulous with fresh fruits, homemade marmelade and a lot more... the view from the garden/terrace is outstanding and I enjoyed very much the tranquility, decoration, and specifically the local advice, tips and the trips organised by Barbara, the hostel manager :-) THANK YOU!

We have loved our stay at Casa de Gente! Although we arrived later than planned, we have been welcomed very nicely, Pauline took us to a local concert and gave us lots of useful tipps. Pauline and her colleague are just the perfect hosts! We felt there like home and we regretted we couldn't stay longer! With love from Vienna

This is a truly lovely place to stay. The decor is simple but quaint and tasteful, the breakfast is the best we had in the whole of Brasil, Flavia the manager is so incredibly helpful, and the rest of the staff are friendly too. Flavia went above and beyond to help us with anything we needed - she booked tickets...

Staying in Santa Teresa

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Teresa
Santa Teresa is a bohemian enclave hosting many local artists’ studios. The narrow, winding streets of this neighbourhood were revitalised years ago, and visitors can now stroll through this area to view magnificent mansions dating back to the late 19th and early 20th century. A highlight not miss: Museu Chacará do Céu, a former mansion turned museum which houses works by prominent Brazilian modern artists.
