You don't expect much from these prices but I still expected honesty. They tried to rip me off by forcing me into a more expensive room than the one I had booked, and they thought I'd have to give in because the alternative was me heading back on the streets of Rio at midnight without a place to stay. Unfortunately...

That hostel was the most terrible place I have ever been to. The staff that work there is terrible , rude and non-professional , especially the volunteers , one of them shouted at me , and accused me of stealing his phone. There was no bed for me because there were bed sheets clean, the manager was new and totally...

Its just a terrible, terrible place. Heed all of the warnings! Obviously a 36 bed dorm is never going to be a breeze but the common area is just an old gym room where men used to watch themselves pump iron. Its a converted gym and it still smells like it.

I checked out of this hell hole this morning and am paying to stay in a hotel instead, I have been all over the world 1st, and 3rd world countries and can easily say I´ve slept better in airports than I did here. I read the same bad reviews you guys and gals are all reading and one said, ´´don´t...

If you value your health and safety, do not stay here. Loose wiring everywhere (including in the showers - my friend got an electric shock while having a shower)filthy bathrooms, no ventilation, hot and stuffy, recirculated air conditioning, no natural light in the large dorm room, firetrap, broken stairs, very unsafe.

You don't wanna stay here. Trust me. You can get much better hostels for the same price. The only average thing I experienced was the breakfast, which they've handled pretty well. Anyway, the rooms are overcrowded, smell, hot, and most do not have windows at all. The place is NOT clean. I avoided the restrooms throughout my 24 hour stay...

This is a well run basic hostel with friendly helpfull staff. Phillipe helped with or onward journey and in booking bus tickets in Portugese. The in-house entertainment is also worth the visit alone.Very happy overal.

There are far too many beds put in the one room - serious overcrowding issues. Simply nowhere to put your bag - I had to sleep with my bag on the bed with me. Very hot rooms because they are so full. Breakfast was ok, until I saw the girl preparing it and then refused to eat it again after...

Rooms were hot and overcrowded, there is no hot water. the doors could not be closed. Wifi was shocking, the swimming pool was dirty and no one had the courage to stay in there. The hostel is overcrowded on hollidays and you may also sleep on the floor, because there is no space for so many beds.

Staying in Copacabana

Neighbourhood Profile
The rowdy Copacabana is one of the most traditional and old areas from Rio de Janeiro. This neighbourhood is a blend of Brazilian soul - crowded, rowdy and traditional. This neighbourhood has a bit of everything: bars with music, pubs, street fairs, chaotic streets, and many shops. All these things and more live side-by-side. There are options for all price points and tastes. However, the most powerful draw in Copacabana is still the fantastic view of the coast and the incredible beaches.

“If you are not staying in this hostel at the peak time, try to choose 22 bed dorm or 10 bed dorm. I took the 10 bed dorm and stayed 3 night all alone in this room, basically the same thing is with 22 bed dorm - really spacious :)”
