Stayed for the World Cup, staff was friendly, people from all over the World was there and everybody had a good time. 10-15 minutes walk from metro station Largo de Machado and from one of the spots where you can go to Cristo Redentor.

The staff were nice, the breakfast good, but the showers were most of time cold and dirty. The restroom were always dirty and for some days there was no water, so using the toilets was a challenge. Also, people were very loud on the hallways and downstairs. The staff said nothing to those people about being so loud... so sleeping...

The room is fine and clean, the toilets were cleans as well. But it was too expensive for the quality of the hostel. A friend pay less than me and rent an apartment in front of Copacabana. The staff were friendly just with European people, as we are from south america they ignored us all time and try to don't...

I had planned to stay iun Rio for only four days while working at the World Cup and ended up staying at Samba Palace for 14! That is how much fun Rio is and how great of a spot that Samba Palace was for travelers on a budget to enjoy. The staff were awesome and took us out without charge...

This hostel does a job for those after cheap(ish) accommodation in Rio, but don't go if you're expecting luxury and/or comfort! Samba Palace is in Laranjeiras, a quietish neighbourhood which is a 15 min walk from the Rio subway, or around a $25 (Reais) to Copacabana/Ipanema. The good bits - the staff were very friendly and helpful, were willing to...

Basic but decent hostel with very good and friendly staff. Dorm rooms (I was in an 8 bed) are reasonable size but Bunks are a bit creaky with very little support to stop you falling out ! Showers seemed to be cold 90% of the time. In a good/safe area with a couple of really good local bars/resturants within a...

The staff were really friendly and welcoming. This place is one bus to Lapa, and one bus to copacobana - so fairly convenient. A taxi home from lapa should only set you back about 10-15 reals. We got a room on the bottom floor which meant we could hear every drunk guest come home (and this is Rio so that...

We stayed here during carnival 2014 - the hostel is in a great location, safe area and only 5-10mins walk from Christ the Redeemer. Bus stop and taxi rank nearby. Had a really friendly welcome, the staff are all very helpful and have great knowledge on where to go/what to see. We stayed in a double private room, the room...

Stayed at Samba Palace Hostel for my first night and couldn't ask for a better Welcoming Staff. Very friendly (Eddy and the two girls) and knowledgeable. Decided to stay a few more days, Eddy showed me around and invited my friend and I to some great entertainment events! Clean, cheap and good breakfast (included) and public transport nearby. Thank you for...

We stayed here in April 2013 for 7 nights. This is the place to stay if you want a good location, good comfortable surroundings, knowledgeable staff and a taste of true Brazilian hospitality! We were a little concerned before we arrived at the location but it is perfect - there are shops just around the corners, plenty of bars and...
