My fiancé and I stayed for three nights during Carnival. Case da Santa is located within walking distance of the festivities with wonderful restaurants just up the street in the circle. The owner is a gracious host and was always more than willing to answer our questions. Our only regret is not staying longer!

I spent 4 days in this beautiful charming house, and felt home the moment I passed the gate. The house located in the beautiful authentic neighborhood of Santa Teresa is decorated with taste displaying very cozy and clean rooms. A delicious breakfast is served under the trees with a very nice view on the city and I had the chance...

The house was even more beautiful than the pictures show. The rooms were very clean and Matt was an excellent host. I have gone to Rio many times and stayed in different properties, but this one definitely took my breath away. The neighborhood gave me a real grasp of what Rio de janeiro is ( aside form the beaches and...

Matt was washing his vintage VW when we arrived at the gate on a late afternoon. He quickly tossed on a t-shirt and showed us the house. An old colonial house which had been renovated and become a very hip place. Our room was spacious and very hip. The mix of vintage with the modern is done with a very...

I spent quite a while searching for a lovely and beautiful place for us to stay during our trip to Rio and found Casa da Santa, which should be called "Casa da Matthieu" after its charming and very hospitable host. You've seen the pictures, what more can I say... Matt has clearly done a wonderful job creating this homely, yet...

We stayed in Casa da Santa for 3 nights at the beginning of our trip to Rio on the 21st to 23rd December and it was a great find. The house itself is gorgeous and beautifully finished - a modern twist on an older more stately home in the area of Saint Teresa. Deciding to stay there at the beginning...

First my husband and I intended to stay four nights but we stayed 15! Our hosts were the coolest, they made us feel so at home! They made us an abundant fresh fruit and french bread breakfast ( with home made mango jam!) every morning and we were also allowed to use the kitchen for all our extra nutrition needs...

Staying in Santa Teresa

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Teresa
Santa Teresa is a bohemian enclave hosting many local artists’ studios. The narrow, winding streets of this neighbourhood were revitalised years ago, and visitors can now stroll through this area to view magnificent mansions dating back to the late 19th and early 20th century. A highlight not miss: Museu Chacará do Céu, a former mansion turned museum which houses works by prominent Brazilian modern artists.
