We spent our last 2 nights in Rio at La Maison and it was the perfect choice. The Copacabana room offers stunning view of Christ the Redeemer and the lush green hills. At breakfast you can also enjoy wonderful views from the open dining area. The hotel is beautifully decorated and has a rather bohemian, relaxed atmosphere. I loved both...

We stayed here for 6 nights during carnaval. Our transfers were all arranged by the owner jacques, we were greeted by a lovely young man Andrea who was extremely helpful & friendly in arranging taxis, recommending places of interest & general advice during the busy holiday season. The hotel is very design led in its interiors & decor with stunning...

A Fantastic hotel - so beautiful! Great service and sightseeingbooks At the hotel. They reserved restaurants and helpt us with tips of walking tours and restaurants at night. We also stayed At the beach but since it is less personal and more of a jungle feeling in gavea we liked it more actually. The interoir decor is amazing!

To be honest, the reviews I read about this place did mislead me. La Maison IS a boutique hotel, but please don't go expecting tip top service and decor (fan in room not working, boiling hot etc etc). The place is beautiful, the rooms are all different and the design of the hotel is very trendy - there's something interesting...

Amazing, chilled out hotel, hidden away from the noise. Its a lovely alternative to the bigger concrete hotels you'll find along the beach front! We stayed in the blue room - would recommend to anyone. The room was really spacious with a fantastic view and the best hotel bed i've slept in. The breakfasts every morning were fantastic and staff...

We spent one night at La Maison at the end of a one-week stay in Brazil. The previous weekend we'd stayed at Praia Ipanema, a bigger hotel directly on the beach at about the same rate. I much prefer La Maison - better service, better food and a great room with a beautiful view. The location is good - 5-10...

Rio is well known for it's lack of hotels, and the so called 'best' are on the famous beaches of Ipanema and Copacabana. La Maison is in a unique location next door to a Favela. However one should not be concerned, as this particular Favela has been pacified and is safe, although if you are interested in going there it...

Having stayed-in Rio before along copacabana beach in a big cement block hotel, I decided to try here for a change. Firstly, depends what you want from a holiday and how much you are willing to spend. The hotel is charming, they were overly accommodating with my check in and check out times. Yes you need to get taxis everywhere,...

Nice place run by a really nice chap. This is a bit further away from the centre of Rio than advertised ( not really walkable ) and can be a bit noisy at the weekend but in general it is a stunning place in a stunning location and Jacques (the owner) goes out of his way to offer advice and...

I have stayed at La Maison twice, and both times were pure magic. This gorgeous colonial house up in the Gavea hills welcomes you to a really unique (and perhaps more authentic) Rio experience. I love each member of the staff, and the owners are both warm and very helpful. No, it's not sitting on the beach - but it's...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
LA MAISON BY DUSSOL: A COSY AND ELEGANT HAVEN THAT YOU WILL SOON CALL HOME La Maison By Dussol is a confidential place nested in the heights of Rio de Janeiro, in the residential and central area of Gavea, only a 10 minutes drive from Ipanema and Leblon. La Maison By Dussol is housed in a beautiful villa fully rebuilt and designed by Francois-Xavier and is emblematic of the signature of By Dussol. This haven features a flamboyant Bohemian style reinvented for the 21th century originally combining different styles, designer furniture and a vintage twist with antiques hunted in Rio de Janeiro. With only 5 rooms La Maison By Dussol offers a peaceful and intimate experience. The gests will find themselves at home. The chic and cosy rooms are in perfect tune with the rest of the hotel. Each room is unique, elegantly outfitted and has its private terrace or balcony. Their decor is inspired by the travelling experience of the Dussol brothers around the world. The themes of the rooms are inspired by 5 different places: India (the Ganesha Room), China (the Shanghai Room), Brazil (the Copacabana Room), France (the Recamier Room) and the United-States (the Tiffany Room). The Copacabana and Recamier Suites, as well as the Tiffany Room take advantage of the spectacular view on the Tijuca Forest and the Christ Redeemer. ... more   less
