Mama Ruisa is a brilliant little gem in the middle of Rio. The entire team makes you feel at home and welcome. I simply cannot think about anything that was not up to the standard I expected: the bed was good, the shower well equipped,...More
I loved staying at Mama Ruisa. Loved the whimsical and eclectic interiors. Loved the variety of views from vistas of cable cars on Sugarloaf to gazing at a wall sprouting orchids while floating in the pool. I loved the tropical breezes sifting through the house...More
The grounds were beautiful. The staff was friendly. This boutique hotel is centrally located, near (driving) to the convention center, copacobana and walking distance to shops/restaurants and historic sites. My room had a beautiful view of sugarloaf mountain.

Santa Teresa is a bohemian enclave hosting many local artists’ studios. The narrow, winding streets of this neighbourhood were revitalised years ago, and visitors can now stroll through this area to view magnificent mansions dating back to the late 19th and early 20th century. A highlight not miss: Museu Chacará do Céu, a former mansion turned museum which houses works by prominent Brazilian modern artists.
