The rooms were a bit outdated but really liked the balcony and people watching, colorful part of the city. Praca de Republica is right next door, they have a market on the weekends, good shopping. Staff was attentive and friendly but didn't speak English. Great...More
Do not bother with this hotel! When I arrived the wifi was broken and was not fixed. The door handle on my room was broken. The balcony door would not close. The bedroom light bulbs did not exist and the room phone did not work....More
Very old hotel in a lively but not always safe neighbourhood of Sao Paulo. The staff is really very friendly, but this does not offset the rest. Everything is old and it's not even possible to close the window (not for a specific problem: it's...More

Part of the historical centre of São Paulo, República was once a fancy residential area. República Square holds a craft and food fair every weekend, right by the subway entrance. Nearby, one of the neighbourhood’s main attractions is the Italian Building, where you can see the city from the 42nd floor. The Copan Building also deserves a close look, with 1,160 apartments and a huge floor area that
inspired filmmakers and other artists. To get the feeling of São Paulo in the beginning of the 1900s, visit the Municipal Theatre – you will be amazed by its architecture. The area also features several galleries. República is a great area to explore during daytime, but use caution if visiting alone at night.
