Hotel Kimal is situated on an unpaved road in the small village of San Pedro de Atacama, an oasis in the arid Atacama desert. This town is an ideal location for excursions to the desert and the Andes mountains. The hotel is situated behind a earthen wall, which means that you won't see it from the road. The hotel complex... If you are an independent traveller like us you will travel appx. 100 kms across the good quality desert road from Calama to get to San Pedro de Atacama. Once you arrive you will find all roads in the town are unpaved and you will probably have a little difficulty in finding your accommodation until you ask !! Having said... More

San Pedro is not a sophisticated place but the Kimal was a comfortable, central base for exploring the Atacama. The staff were very friendly and helpful despite limited English. The food at breakfast and dinner was very good - be warned, the portions are enormous. A starter would easily be enough for two or a main course. The rooms are... More

Very helpful staff. Evening meals excellent. Bedrooms small and the one fan was not sufficient. We had the door open to allow a slight breeze. A good location on the edge of the town. Plunge pool was a bonus.

Wonderful location, 30 second walk to the Main Street and lots of restaurants, tours, shops etc. Staff very helpful. Rooms comfortable but basic. Bathrooms clean, lots of hot water, small fridge. No tv or AC. Wifi often slow but passable. Small pool. Breakfast reasonable. LOCATION is great.

Hotel Kimal, like all of San Pedro is built of Adobe and it was a lovely place to stay. A real oasis compared to the rest of bustling San Pedro. Rooms are spacious, clean and comfortable with a good bathroom. Beds were comfy and the room was well serviced. Staff were very helpful particularly as we had to leave very... More

This is a very pleasant quiet hotel away from the bustle of the main streets of San Pedro. The rooms, inside and out, have an adobe appearance and can be a little dark. Nevertheless, they are clean with a good bathroom and comfortable beds. We were there for three nights and on the first day a large bottle of water... More

This hotel is a complete surprise! Lovely cabins with a wild flower garden surrounding them. Thatch roof with adobe walls outside and wooden panelling inside. The ensuite is big. Small veranda outside each cabin with table and two chairs. Swimming pool and spa.

Hotel Kimal is a very nice hotel. Rooms are clean and sufficient and our bathroom was updated. It does not look like much from the outside (as with all other hotels in San Pedro), but once you walk in it is a calm retreat with shade trees and unique layout. Office staff was very helpful and speak sufficient English to... More

We stayed here for 3 nights, rooms were spacious if a bit quirky, plenty hot water for the shower....essential after a day in the desert! We arrived at 1.30pm and the room check-in was 3pm, we left our luggage, had lunch and returned just before 3....the receptionist then watched the clock until exactly 3 before handing us the keys!!
