We spent five nights/6days at the Explora and I have only good things to say about it. Many excursions to chose from, good food... Claudia at the reception was such a help after we found out our so called specialist (Latour N.Y) had not left us enough transit time in Santiago to go back to the States. The last day...

Dear traveler , We are grateful for your kind review of your explora Atacama experience. As a rule of thumb, you need to allow 3 hours of transit time in Santiago in order to comfortably connect back to the United States. Latour is one of our most reliable partners in the U.S. and we have only heard good comments about...

We stayed at explora atacama for 5 nights and in retrospect with so much to do easily could have spent a week. This is what distinguishes Atacama from Rapa Nui, while Rapa Nui is wonderful, 4-5 nights should suffice for most to feel like they've seen the island, there is so much variety at Atacama, the more time the better....

Dear traveler, We are thrilled about your kind review. As for the length of stay, I agree that if a traveler aspires to include high mountain climbing in their explora experience, they should stay a minimum of 5 - 7 nights. Allow me also to point out that we receive a lot of travelers, who believe they won’t be able...

Words cannot express the incredible time my family and I had at Hotel Explora Atacama. The service was outstanding, from the drivers, to the reception to the guides. We had earned a lot and the hotel was highly recommended to us by friends, but the experience surpassed everything we had imagine. The way they have everything set up, from the...

Dear traveler, We are grateful for your kind review of explora Atacama. Thank you for pointing out the explora massage house, the ““Turi Puri.” The house is a colonial adobe building, which we have restored. After a tiring day of exploration or simply for the pleasure of it, travelers may come here and place themselves in the gifted hands of...

Our five day visit was a superb experience that surpassed our expectations in every way. From start to finish, Explora provided flawless, personalized service. The hotel website is one of the best I’ve seen. There is a tremendous amount of information about how things work and what activities are available. Even before we flew to Calama, I was already looking...

Dear traveler, Thank you vey much. We couldn’t ask for a more detailed and enthusiastic review of explora Atacama. Our team sometimes struggles to really define the explora experience. It’s not for the lack of words, but the challenge of describing an experience that encompasses many facets of experiential travel. The road to discovery is an adventure in itself at...

We just returned from a trip to Argentina and Chile. We stayed at Hotel Explora in Atacama and Patagonia. In both locations we can simply say that the experience my wife and I had was simply magnificent. The Atacama desert has some of the most spectacular scenery and hiking mountains in the world - and hence one expects the highest quality of guides and trips. Explora Atacama delivers on this front brilliantly, with a full roster of guides who have extensive experience with guiding (more than 5+ years in most cases) and a brilliant range of hiking...

On reflection I think this place was worth the money. The location is one of the most interesting, unique places in the world and the quality and range of excursions was truly exceptional. Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Our lodge is located on a plain known as the Ayllu de Larache, once inhabited by an ancient Atacameno community. We have respected the original layout of the land and restored and maintained some of the buildings.Opened in 1998, our lodge is situated on 17 hectares (42 acres) of grounds just a few minutes' walk from the town of San Pedro de Atacama. In the area surrounding the lodge, we have maintained the ancient pathways and buildings which form a labyrinth that invites exploration. There are 50 rooms housed in three long buildings, positioned to form a central square planted with large trees for ample shade. On the fourth side of the square is the building which houses the lodge's public spaces. The views from the lodge's broad terraces enable you to enjoy Atacama's vast chain of volcanic mountains. In 2008, we set ourselves the challenge of intensifying your explora Atacama experience, remodeling the furnishings and the indoor and outdoor spaces. Now that the work is complete, we are pleased to be able to offer you new facilities and services. ... more   less
