This was a rather strange experience, but satisfying in the end. I had a lot of difficulty finding the place, as the location of the bus station has changed since the directions on the website were produced. After finally finding it, the old guy at reception did not speak a word of English (in spite of the ‘international’ in the... More

Stayed here for 3 nights. Staff always very friendly and get involved with guests in the evenings playing cards with us and practicing their English. A great arty lounge downstairs to hang out and meet fellow travellers or just chill with some Chinese tv! Free Internet and wifi. Overall had a great time here the only negatives are that we... Not to many positives for this hostel.... Before i start in its defence it was the low season. There is one Positive- the art deco was well done. The location wasnt The negatives- Even though it was the middle of winter the atmosphere to this place was just as cold. It was very empty and the only people around seemed... More

I feel guilty writing this - my first negative review - part of me thinks that for $5 a night, all you should really demand is a safe place to sleep and to keep your luggage, and all else are optional extras that you get by paying for better accommodation. But another part of me thinks that some of the... More

We had a double room, private bathroom for the 3 nights we were in town - all for about £13. Not bad at all! Staff were helpful, ordered me a tandem (20 RMB) and moped (50RMB [electric scooter]) - no extra deposit required. Plus good English spoken by all there. Breakfast was tasty. If I had to moan, the coffee... More

Out from the West Street, peaceful and nice place. The only bad point is that you cannot expect to have a traveller's exhange experience, it's only chinese people :( Staff speak really good english and they are helpful.

We stayed 1 night in this hostel. The room was ok, but the staff was very weak. Its quite important to have accurate information when travelling in China once few people speak English. We received a couple of wrong information and made bad decisions, even about the tour we booked with them. Maybe it was just bad luck with 1... More

Overall impression was positive. Greatly helped by the frontdesk staff - gave great travel advise. It takes a short 5mins to walk to the bus station and is located away from the crowded West Street. You can rent a bicycle, have a Western breakfast at the cafe and for a mere rmb10/kg, u can get your laundry cleaned & dried... More
