I had booked in advance and when I arrived was told they only had me booked for one night and they were full. Breakfast is eggs, eggs and more eggs and other guests asked for toast but no one had baked bread -this was a usual answerThe room had not been cleaned and had urine on the toilet seat, stained...

We only stayed at Sam's one night, but we really liked the place. Very welcoming staff, who ensured that we had plenty of bottled water in the room. Nice, basic rooms with traditional furniture. The location is just a short walk to the walled city, but on a quiet side street. The view from the terrace was nice and the...

Excellent rating because the value is just that - excellent. Clean place. Great location (location is everything!). Very relaxing. Sam is so much knowledge about Dali's history and the places to see there. He and the staff there were very friendly and most helpful. I will be back!

Very clean and well up-kept basic hotel with comfy beds and comforters. The owner Sam is very friendly and helpful. He made our entire experience Dali experience smooth and pleasant by giving us great advice and arranging our tours and bus tickets. The hotel is very conveniently located just outside the old-city Bo-Ai Lu gate. This place is GREAT value....

Sam communicates clearly by email, and was able to arrange for a driver to pick us up at the train. The hotel was not crowded at all, which was a surprise, since our room was very clean, and quiet and the hotel had a deck looking over Dali. It is just outside the city walls, a 2.5 block or 5...

We stayed in Sams hotel for 2 nights and we were amazed by the standard of the room for a very reasonable price. The location of the hotel is just slightly outside of the southern part of the ancient town. Our room is spacious and it comes with a water dispenser. The owners were very friendly and gave us information...

Sam's is clean, rooms are spacious and the location, 5 minurtes walk outside the city walls, is perfect. Sam is a marvellous host; friendly, knowledgable and entertaining. I enjoyed an excellent breakfast every morning (or afternoon if I wanted) and the staff were cheerful and helpful. A few beers in the evening with fellow guests added to the experience. I...

Stayed here for 3 nights in February. Not my favourite hotel in China, but very far from being the worst either. Room was ok. A little expensive given what you get. Washing was surprisingly expensive. The owner was friendly, and the location was ok. Not a bad option. Quiet and just a llittle way out of the centre (just 5...
