Stayed 2 nights during our tour of Yunnan. A wonderful place to relax after visiting Shanghai. Beautiful grounds and breathtaking view from bedroom window. I thought the breakfast was a bit limited but our evening meals made up for it. Easy to walk around the nearby village and spend a day watching the local people at work. Would highly recommend.

What a great place to stay. Friendly, clean and comfortable rooms set in a mid century merchant's house in the village of Xizhou about 30 mins by car from Dali old town; the three pagodas and the mountains and a half hour to forty five minute walk from the lake. The rooms are clean with modern bathrooms and western toilets,...

What a find amongst the garlic fields. Friendly service, English speaking and our room with a massive bed. Drive up a narrow lane way and first impressions of a walled in old building opens up into a beautiful historic gardens and clean, well maintained and friendly boutique hotel. Lovely bar area where you can catch with some other western visitors....

Stayed at the Linden Centre for seven days and loved it. The place is gorgeous, able room and the traditional Chinese bed room was very comfortable and huge. Just walking around the three different courtyards and watching the sunsets and sunrises from the terrace were breathtaking. The Lindens are an amazing couple that are so welcoming and attentive to the...

A great place to visit for those that have done the typical Beijing, Hong Kong, and Shanghai circuit. Much to see and do in this very interesting, cultural, and historic region. The village of Xizhou provides a 'real China' experience - big government and industry has yet to reach this area. Local tours are easily arranged via the Linden Center....

Thank you for your kind words. While we are guardedly optimistic about the preservation of our home village, Xizhou, we must warn guests that the surrounding areas are becoming increasingly developed. This development, which brings many economic benefits to the local residents, makes it difficult for visitors to 'touch' the old culture. We are presenting a more balanced tourism model...

We visited Linden Centre with our 3 kids and friends. The place is an old and very beautiful family estate, that the Linden couple has restored in the most beautiful way and turned into a boutique guest house. The place is absolutely fantastic and you feel like being in old China. All wooden carvings, small symbolic details and very relaxed...

I stayed here for a week in October, 2016 but am just getting around to writing a review. I am American and I traveled with my Chinese sister-in-law. We were both very delighted with our experience at The Linden Center. Jeannie is what I call a "beautifier" and whatever she touches become beautiful! The Center is decorated and run with...

The creation of the Centre has been the result of a 'perfect storm' of past experiences, passions and dreams. Jeanee and I are more than husband and wife, more than father and mother, and much more than hotel owners. We hope to inspire a new generation of Chinese to more carefully and thoughtfully protect their cultural and environmental resources. As...

The Linden Center is a wonderful and authentic place, created by two special people, Brian and Jeannee Linden. We enjoyed a large and comfortable room. The friendly and smiling staff is most helpful and speaks English. We loved the still unspoiled village of Xizhou. Linden offers a lot of extra's like a well stocked library, a free morning tour to...

Thank you for your kind words. We appreciate your comments about the furniture and proper heating in the cafe. This has been a challenge for us. We originally used wood and leather chairs in the bar but they were quickly destroyed by the constant eating and drinking that goes on in that setting (they were also very hard to wipe...

I feel as though review I can write would even remotely do justice to the Linden Centre. But alas, I will try to highlight some of it's many delights for you intrepid explorers. My mum & I stayed here a little over 3 weeks ago, and having galavanted around the rest of Yunnan province all the way home to Australia,...

Sometimes I cannot say anything but 'thank you'. Your comments inspire Jeanee and me to continue to promote our model of inclusion and preservation. We just returned from a potential national park project in southern Sichuan. As with all our future projects, the government has turned to us because of our model. We try to be so much more than...
