I went with some friends to the Linden Centre where I learned about the local culture, such as the history and the local Bai Minority. It had an amazing view over the rice fields and it had excellent service!

It is a wonderful place if you want to immerse yourself into a community! Especially since it is in a great place, right in the middle of the village, it is so easy to get around. Also offers an incredible view of the village, and amazing facilities!

During my time at the Linden Centre, Mr. and Mrs. Linden and the Linden Centre staff have all been extremely helpful. I would really recommend the Linden Centre if you are trying to find a authentic Bai hotel

We had an amazing family experience since we arrived at the hotel. Reception was very friendly, spoke perfect english and made us feel at home. The hotel is placed in a old house that has been refurbished keeping the tradition but also with many touches of a boutique hotel. They kindly invite you to use the multiple common areas that...

During last week's holiday, the Centre hosted many families. We try to keep a balance between making the Centre children-friendly during these periods and ensuring levels of quietude and professionalism for couples. Our bilingual team has been trained to interact with children- playing with them in our toy- and game-rooms, hosting calligraphy and painting breaks in our library, exercising with...

I stayed a week at the Linden Centre and it was too short! This is a place you can relax and at the same time be completely immersed in Chinese traditions and culture. The centre offers unique cultural courses such as calligraphy! The staff and owners are nothing short of excellent. It is also very convenient as you feel you...

One of the joys of managing the Centre is to watch the transition in our guests. Your visit, which started because of a discussion in Wisconsin, was very special to our team. Unfortunately, Jeanee and I were not in China during your stay, and we asked our team to ensure that you were taken well care of. We are so...

The Linden Centre is located in the Xizhou village, and is a 20 minute car ride away from Dali Old Town. In addition to a great view of the Cang Shan mountains and everlasting garlic fields, the compound style hotel has a very cozy atmosphere. The Lindens and staff members provide exceptional service, ranging from tours of the area to...

We have just returned from the golden rice fields with a group of guests. While some of the older guests watched from the terrace, we helped our village neighbors harvest the rice crop. This is an annual event at the Centre and your mention of the garlic fields reminds us that we will soon be planting garlic bulbs in these...

If you are ever in the area and are looking for a different sort of stay, then this hotel is for you. The people are super super friendly which is a nice change from some of the other places we have stayed at over the past few weeks. The surroundings are lovely, authentic and very clean and scenic. There is...

After traveling in China and Tibet for 10 days we arrived at Linden Centre, what a refuge from all the traffic and people of the last week. Great views, great food, wonderful staff, amazing architecture, I was impressed with everything they have done here. In all my travels this stands out in my mind as one of the most serene....

I stayed three nights with my family in the hotel and the experience was unique. The hotel is a Bai ethnic minority house built by a wealthy family 70 years ago. The architecture is beautiful and different from any other types of houses in China. The founder of this hotel renovated the house and protected the heritage. Although the house...

Thank you so much for articulating our mission so concisely. We are trying to develop a "different type of luxury," one that delivers an elegant and timeless home away from home for our guests (which is so effortlessly shaped by our grand historic compounds) and supported by unique programming that combines the best of our community with the intellectual curiosity...

Set in a remodeled Bai style house that once belonged to a wealthy business man circa 1948, it has picturesque courtyards and nice views of rice fields and mountains near Dali. Be prepared for a rather hard bed, difficult lighting for the ladies to apply makeup and no phone in room. Because of the thin walls and sounds traveling there's...

Unfortunately, as hard as we try, we cannot please all the guests. One person's criticism- not enough luxury- is offset by another's complaint about too many comforts and not enough 'authenticity'. While we passionately try to make everyone happy, we have learned that we can only be straightforward in telling guests what we do and let them make the decision...
