You really don't want to miss this. We only spent 2 nights, but you could spend a lot more time here. The place was one of the few fancy private Bai homes built just after WWII that has been preserved, and it has been very tastefully updated. The rooms are spacious, the three courtyards extremely peaceful. Just go up on...

Our young family ( 2 children aged 5 and 6) had an incredible holiday experience at the Linden Centre. The property itself is visually stunning. The owners Brian and Jeanie Linden have put in a tremendous effort to restore a traditional Bai compound / courtyard house to its original glory. They have put a lot of passion into their project,...

I can still see your children dancing in the courtyards, working out with me in the exercise room, and playing pool with our staff! We truly miss them and you! You mentioned throughout your stay about how we have made this National Relic feel like a home. This may be our proudest accomplishment. China strictly protects buildings like the one...

I stayed for 2 nights and would thoroughly recommend. The owners have gone to a great effort to renovate the property which is full of wonderful antiques. There are many activities available and the guide of the local village was very informative. I had my own car and guide and this was a waste as there was no need. The...

We are sorry to hear about your cooking demo. We have since asked guests before the demo how deeply they want to be involved. Many of our guests want no more than to watch our renowned chef and understand how to prep and incorporate Yunnan's unique spices into their foods. (We include a trained bilingual travel/activities curator with each program...

We (family of four) stayed at the Linden Centre for two nights in April. The property itself has some charcter but this is where it ends, I'm afraid. First of all, there is a very limited menu and breakfast is only bread and jam with eggs. Also, dinner ENDS at 8pm! Secondly, it is not a place where you can...

The Linden Centre is proud to be one of the most family-friendly hotels in China. We have three signs in our whole complex (nearly an acre footprint) that ask our guests to be as quiet as possible. This is because we have absolutely no 'white noise'- no cars, planes, factories. We are surrounded by rice fields and mountains. Our building...

I spent a long weekend at the Linden Center visiting my daughter who spends 4 months in XiZhou. The Linden Center is bliss in a serene surrounding. Go there! Nothing better than to sit in the yard or terrace with a pot of tea. The compound is very beautifully renovated and run by the very friendly Linden family with a...

Thank you for your review. We have tried so hard to create serenity within the walls of our old complex. In China, with its large and demanding domestic tourism market, serenity is illusive and thus is so often artificially contrived in theme park-style hotels and rebuilt 'ancient cities'. We are honored to be the protectors of some of Southwest China's...

The Linden Centre is a fabulous hotel in the most perfect setting, surrounded by fields and mountains. We had a wonderfully relaxing couple of days here. The interior is beautifully restored, the service is excellent and the food is reasonably priced and high quality. They were really welcoming to our children and very keen to help plan activities. Worth being...

While the Linden Centre is located 10 miles north of Dali, we purposely selected the village of Xizhou for our projects because it is one of the only living villages in which one can still experience traditional Bai culture. Our location is our strength. Xizhou has over 110 protected buildings, all within 5-10 minute walk of our Centre. This is...

This hotel is situated in the small town of Xizhou down narrow streets and close to the market. The hotel has well appointed rooms, very comfortable and has a very peaceful feel about it. The good was good and there was also a small bar.

Looking around while sitting on the terrace is breath-taking. The Linden Centre is surrounded on three sides by green garlic fields. Waking up you can smell it after a good rest on the wonderfully soft beds. The Linden Centre was a compound owned by a wealthy Chinese family. The architecture has been restored wonderfully yet you can still get a...

It was extremely relaxing to be out in the amazing weather with clean air which was a great relief from the pollution back in Shanghai. Being able to see the blue sky during the day and shining stars at night were some of the highlights of this trip. If you are lucky, you may see a shooting star or two...

We thank you for all your comments! The last one, regarding smoking, is of particular importance. While we do offer a small smoking terrace in the outdoor fourth courtyard, we do not allow smoking in the rooms nor in any of the common indoor areas.
