The Dali Commune is a New Luxury Green Hotel, where guests can experience the beauty of nature, inspiration of art and culture, and conscious green and healthy living. We placed an emphasis on culture, nature and sustainability. Natural stone, reclaimed wood crafted into floors and furnishings, old hand-carved wood doors, old wooden trunks have be turned into coffee tables, and nature is brought indoors through living green walls. The garden is full of flowers, trees and herbs. The Dali Commune followed the Global Sustainable Tourism for Hotels Standards. All cleaning and laundry products are naturally made, leaving no toxins for our precious ground and water resources. Energy and water saving features include passive energy saving design, solar water heating system, LED lighting, sun and lavender-dried sheets and water saving shower heads. Our rooms have zero disposable plastics, and bathroom amenities are biodegradable. We compost organic wastes to fertilize our organic vegetables
The Dali Commune is a wonderful place to stay in Dali. The owners are meticulous with making sure every detail is taken care of.
The rooms are new, clean, and are decorated very well. I can tell that the owners took part in the design and construction of the property. The commune is very peaceful and has several outdoor seating areas to enjoy nature or read a book. It takes just a few minutes to walk from the property to the Er Hai Lake. The commune also has free parking, but do be aware that the alleyways leading to the commune are very narrow.
The highlight of our trip was on Chinese New Year's eve. The owners planned a hot pot dinner that was so delicious and special! The vegetables were taken from their own organic garden and they made mulled wine for us. After dinner, the owners had a firework display. We felt so at ease during the stay and we really enjoyed chatting with the owners (they can speak English which was great!!)

The Dali Commune is a gorgeous place to stay with family, friends, or solo. I was made so welcome by the hosts, De Ping & Maria. They live on-site. It’s clear they’ve put thoughtful and loving attention into every detail of the rooms, the courtyards, the large kitchen, with plants, ponds, local artwork. There is a yoga studio that can also function as a movie space. You can schedule a massage on the premises. It’s situated about five minutes from the main square of the village, so getting a car to the old town or nearby tourist attractions such as the Three Pagodas is easy. Maria & De Ping are also happy to give recommendations for places in town. If you are interested in tea or cooking, I think you are able to have a workshop. I think the space would be great for a small work retreat or family reunion. This guesthouse is about a five min walk to the lush ecological gardens of Erhai lake. My hosts kindly lent me a bike and I spent several mornings riding along the pathways before heading back to fabulous breakfasts at the Dali Commune. All breakfasts were included, using ingredients from their own organic garden. Some days were western, some Asian—all delicious. I came to relax and by the end of my five days, I certainly did not want to leave. I will definitely be back when I can. Highly recommend this wonderful place. Can’t wait to go back!

We had been there with another family and kids from 1 to almost 8yrs old and felt all more than warm welcomed and happy in all our needs. the hosts helped us to find great places that fit to our needs and were always super friendly. we felt more like family members than guests. The hosts helped to book a private yoga class and massages. The rooms were big, pretty and very clean. If we would go to Dali again we would pick that place again.

A real gem steps from the lakeside in Dali. We found it a perfect spot for our explorations of Dali and its surroundings. Was an expat in China for a number of years so appreciate a unique stay, especially when so many accommodations can be somewhat soulless or cookie cutter or commercial. what I love about Dali commune is its serene environment, beautiful green gardens, great amenities, and intimacy away from the hustle and bustle. food is delicious. The hosts are welcoming and fascinating people who understand hospitality. We were there during thanksgiving and the hosts were so warm and welcoming and created a unique holiday atmosphere. Views from the rooftop lounge area of the mountains and lake. Stunning.

We enjoyed our 2-night stay very much, the room was very comfortable and homey, i particularly love all the efforts towards sustainability (no single use plastic, organic garden greens and compost, some solar energy, water saving shower!), all the more impressive in an area that was not too easy to reach by car at the time we were there due to construction works and small streets. Wonderful hosts, delicious and nutritious breakfasts, a yoga room upstairs that can be turned into a movie theater, a lovely dining room, flowers and plants everywhere, it is truly a gem and an oasis in busy Dali!

Our stay at the Dali Commune has been fantastic! It is like being at home while travelling, such an relaxed atmosphere and super friendly hosts. An eco-hotel on the lake, great breakfast, excellent service and fabulous tea. An oasis of peace in this hectic world, for the sportive types a yoga room, good movie theater for the kids, and a full bar .... in short for everybody something and an ideal place to hang out and recover from the daily hustle and bustle. Go and see if for yourself, the host are fantastic, they will take good care of you! Five and a half stars if this rating exists!
