We stayed here with our 2 kids. The staff was friendly and helpful. The room was large, clean, and comfortable. The shower was hot with good water pressure. The made-to-order breakfast was filling and tasty. The only thing I would change would be the addition of blackout curtains. It's conveniently located near the night market and Saturday night walking street.

Huan Kawin Hostel is located in a residential area just off the main highway. Surprisingly quiet considering that the traffic zips by just a block away. It's an older, wooden house with two floors. One room downstairs and three rooms downstairs. There is a common toilet/shower on both floors and a bistro/sitting area downstairs. The rooms are rather big and have refrigerators. The bistro menu works for breakfast as well and states that fried pork is the most popular item. Parking might be an issue as there is only room for one car inside the gates. For dinner most guests seem to venture away to Chiang Rai's night bazaar which is a ten minute walk from the hostel. The bazaar has a good selection of food stands and sometimes stage entertainment (a drag show performance the night I was there). The only drawback with Huan Kawin I can think of is that the walls are very thin and sounds travel easy.

We arrived about 8pm. Our room was a good size and the air con and WiFi worked really well. We were given lots of information about the night market and places we could visit as well. The only complaints we have is that the bed is quite small, I’m 5ft 4 and my toes were touching the edge! And the toilet is a bit of a walk from the room.

We didn't realise this is more of a homestay than a hostel. Yet this was no bad thing! We stayed in the queen sized bedroom- upstairs just off the family's TV room. As another guest has mentioned- it doesn't feel awkward as long as you are quiet & respectful it is great. The lady was very polite too & turned the TV right down when we were in the room & was as quiet as a mouse! Bed was really comfy- could see they've added a mattress topper to the mattress. Bedding also very clean & comfortable with a great aircon. Free bottle of water each. Delicious free breakfast cooked by the lovely lady- I'm vegetarian & she kindly made a cheese omelette with rice for me- definitely the best I've had! Could see there are bikes & mopeds for rent for them too. 10/15 min walk into town & 5 min walk to the Saturday night market which is a must do- some great food & stalls there!

The house looks amazing.Made of wood and with a lovely patio downstairs. We stayed in a double room upstairs. The room was a normal double with bed, a table and some furniture. The bed was a small double and quite hard as most bed sin Thailand. It was also quite short. The toilet was perfect and clean. She provided us with water and toiletries. She was very nice and helpful. We didn't try the breakfast so I can't review but it was included in the price. There is also a lovely living room to be used with air con and Tv. Very good location, 10-15 m walk from bust station and night market. Very good stay would stay again.
