Currently staying here and I don't think I could have booked a better place to stay in this part of Lanta. Staff is friendly and helpfull, and allways interacting with our kids.
Lounge by the beach (I call it that way :)) is amazing, you can stay outside the whole day because you have trees and later umbrellas which makes you safe from the sun.
There is variety of bars and restaurants up and down the beach in both directions, though food here is excellent. Breakfast - you name it, from freshly baked/boiled/scrambled/cooked eggs, rice, beans, ham, pastry, fruit! Pad thai omnomom. They have so called lunch of the day (100B)
We booked villa with private pool which comes outside in the back and on the opposite side there is an outdoor shower. I had to get used to it since gekons and small frogs and little bugs can visit you during the shower :)
Since we are traveling with 4months old baby we could not go on a snorkeling and diving trip, but there are some "reefs" - more like rocks few meters up the beach where you can see some colorful fishies :) There are non down the beach as I was able to see, so this resort also makes a good choice if you wanna snorkle off the beach ;) (No colorful corala and abundance of see life, but few fishies from Finding Nemo can be seen withouth a problem)

This property in it's hey day must of been exceptional.
Location on the beach, immaculately kept grounds, large bedrooms and very friendly and courteous staff. A couple of observations that I believe need attention!

1. Lack of steps into the pool for the adjoining villlas make it difficult for people to climb in and out of!
2 The ladders into the main pool are not secured to the ground properly anymore. They make noise and are a health and safety hazard with very loose movement for people going into and out of the pool.
3 Wifi is patchy and goes offline regularly.
4. TV channel signals in bedrooms not working and also of poor visual quality.
5. Investment in new poolside furniture required to replace broken and old white sunbeds.
6. Clearer communication about location of beach towels.

Overall though I could stay for a week here, get list and enjoy the seclusion of this resort. The staff were pleasant, friendly and efficient. If the above observations were addressed I would award ” Lanta Sands” a 5 instead of a 4 !

We have just spent 3 incredible days at Lanta Sand - without doubt the most amazing beach resort I have ever visited and we will DEFINITELY be back!!
The rooms were so well appointed and massive, between our group we stayed in a family plunge pool suite, beach front pool suite and plunge pool villa, each absolutely stunning. The resort grounds are breath taking, with orchids everywhere, interesting trees and water features and huge swimming pools scattered through the resort - one with a cocktail bar attached to it. There is a great gym, kids play area, and a spa that you won't want to miss out on. The foot scrub/massage was heavenly! The breakfasts that were included were delicious, with a huge array of different options each day.
The couple we were traveling with got married on the beach in front of the resort, all of it planned by the executive assistant manager, Leo. I couldn't believe his eye for detail, he had thought of everything, it was the most beautiful wedding you could imagine and it ran so smoothly with the incredible efforts of Leo and the fleet of wonderful staff looking after us! I was blown away. And what a lovely man, we were so fortunate to have him planning their special day - And all via email! Well done and thank you Leo! Matt, the general manager was around everyday and always made sure he checked in with all the guests that we were all happy and had everything we needed. A really well run resort, 100% recommend it to anyone looking for luxurious accommodation on a stunning soft sand private beach.

After staying in real 4 star resort in Phuket I wouldn’t call Sand resort one. The rooms need updating and better cleaning. Especially villas with plunge pool are totally disaster-do not book one! We did it and ended up to a room like a bunker. The plunge pool was there but next to long cement wall so you couldn’t see anything-it made the whole room dark and impossible to see outside or enjoy the ”terrace”. The shower was outside which could be informed when booking. First night we saw cockroaches inside the room. We informed the staff and asked a new room. Changing was not possible until next day. We asked them to spray the room with bug aerosol. Next morning there were 3 dead in the shower so didn’t want to take shower really. In the end we got a new room from a main building and didn’t see cockroaches anymore. In both rooms everythig was a bit old and sofas etc. textiles stained. Sheets were stained or had holes . It’s sad that cockroaches, cleaning and other problems made the stay uncomfortable even the staff was great and the location by the sea just perfect. Specially one guy at the reception was great help arranging a new room. Little minus that the staff didn’t control sunbeds booking. People put towels to sunbeds very early morning to book them for whole day and the beds ended up being empty almost 70% of the time. At the same time many guests didn’t get a bed because of this. Saw one American family (3 persons) booking one big bed and 2 extra beds, so places for 7.

This was our third visit to this hotel and we stayed in the garden villa as we prefer these to any of the other accommodation as you are afforded a little bit of privacy when you are sitting on your patio. All the garden villas were refurbished early 2018 and generally our villa was still in good order but was showing a little bit of wear and tear ie: scuff marks on the wall from suitcases plus there was a crack in the rendering on the wall of the outside bathroom and also the decking in this area could do with re-varnishing - hopefully all of the maintenance throughout the resort will be done in their low season according to the manager as parts of it are beginning to show wear and tear.
The garden villas are spacious in both bedroom and bathroom size, well equipped kettle, hairdryer, etc. towels and sheets are changed everyday and the room was well cleaned daily.
Breakfast caters for both Western tastes and Asian with plenty of choice, the staff in the dining room are very friendly, smiley and helpful.
The hotel is in a superb position, right on the lovely beach but there are no sunbeds on the beach due to local Thai law but there are sufficient within the hotel area. All swimming pools are available to all guests even the two in front of the beach front villas but if you stay in one of these villas which we did for one night we felt that they lacked a table and chairs on the balcony although there was a small day bed and there was nowhere to hang washing of underwear, swimwear, etc. which we pointed out to Mr Matt (the manager) who is a very nice and approachable man, also with the beach front villas we felt that there was a lack of privacy when you were on your patio due to the pools being right up to the patio edge, hence the reason we choose the garden villas.
Overall the hotel is in a great position with friendly staff, clean and comfortable rooms and very well kept gardens.
We are now planning to go back early next year.

This was a great spot to stay for most reasons. It is well located; the service is very friendly and helpful. The breakfast has plenty of selection. Sunsets couldn’t be better.

There are however a few basics that could be improved to make this resort much better.

1) Showers are either way too cold to be comfortable or too hot to endure. Rags shower you take fluctuates between these two extreme temperatures and hits the sweet spot for only a matter of seconds.

2) WiFi is very poor. Most of the island has very good WiFi so I expect an expensive resort to have good WiFi. This does not. I had to use my data often.

3) The coffee was poor. This is an easy one to get right. Just find a good coffee and stick to it. I had to substitute for tea during my stay then walk next door for a decent coffee.

Other then that, this resort is very good. If they make these changes I wouldn’t hesitate to return.

We experienced a nice welcome to the Lanta Sand Resort at Koh Lanta Island.
The room was clean and comfortable located facing the hotel reception and pool on the second floor with a connecting door to another room where you heard the other guests talking like they sit in the same room as us. Complimentary water, amenities, bathrobes, and beach bags where available in the room.
The drainplug in the sink was missing, the shower head was calcified so the water went everywhere in the bathroom while taking a shower. The water also did not reach a warm temperature at all. We went to the Front Desk to address the problem and they send someone up right away to fix it. We had warm water for one day and for the remaining time of our stay only chilly water while taking a shower - not comfortable!
The best part of our experience at the Lanta Sand Resort is the staff at breakfast in the restaurant. Mr. Kong the F&B Manager welcomes you with a big smile bye name and keeps enjoyable conversation with all guests on a level that really makes the difference!
His staff and chef are also very guest driven, attentive and kind. They ask how you are doing, fill up food as soon as possible and assist when needed.
Mr.Kong, Mr. Non and Ms. Ya are the best part of visiting this hotel as they take care of your wellbeing, are professional and kind at all times.

Lanta Sand is a good combination of nearby several restaurants on the beach and nearby minimarkets, but also a very peacefull environment. The music is pleasant and restaurants has great food (try the duck). We stayed in the villa, which has a great bed and very nice modern bathroom with rainshower. There are three swimming pools and the beach, so plenty of space. Rarely say this, but would stay here again when in Koh Lanta. Would stay here more definitely if the prices were a little but lower, the place is not cheap. Also very good wifi, although you cant download apps (why is that?).

I stayed in this hotel for 3 nights with my girlfriend. Firstly the staff on the desk were very welcoming and collected our bags from the door and delivered them to our room. We were given a welcome drink on arrival and the check in process was effortless and very efficient. The room was spacious, clean and very comfortable. The pool and beach were a 2 min walk from our door and the beach restaurant serves excellent food. There were no issues during our stay and I was able to rent a bike from the hotel reception which arrived in 5 mins which was also a very efficient service. After checking out a staff member dropped us to the pier where we continued our journey. Shortly after checking out the manager of the hotel (never got his name) emailed me to say I had managed to leave my €300 camera behind in the room. He rang me to organise how to get the camera back to me and went to the effort of bubble wrapping, and boxing up my camera to be delivered to Koh Phi Phi on the same day and rang me during each stage to keep me in the loop as to where my camera is. Once the camera arrived on the island he rang me to tell me where I was able to collect it. This level of customer service cannot go unrecognised and he asked for nothing in return. I can’t urge travellers enough to stay in this hotel. I will be returning 100%. Thank you very much Lanta Staff & Manager!

Stayed 3 nights and wish we had longer. We have been back in the UK for less than 1 week and already planning our return to Thailand and back to Koh Lanta and this resort, which was amazing. Rooms good size and comfy beds. We had a swim up, which was ideal late afternoon. Nice to relax by the pool or on the beach during the day and lovely restaurants / bars on the beach and a tuk tuk away if you wanted to go to a more lively area. The sunsets were amazing as was the hotel. We travelled Thailand for the first time for 15days and it was great seeing 5 different areas/islands, but I think Koh Lanta topped the list and this hotel was great and great value for Money.

Dear Kit Thank you for interesting to stay with us one week on August. Below is my answer of your question 1. you can rent the taxi from Koh Lak direct to Lanta is take around 4 hours 2. August is someday quite windy can swim or not dispend on wave situation on that day but we have 3 swimming pool kids can enjoy all day 3. Many main restaurant are still open but some small are close August is the beautiful month compare to other month of law season we always have guest around 80% We looking forward to welcome you and your family Best regards Deerake P. We didn't manage the Yoga session but some place near our resort offer Yoga. Not too far away.
