We arrived in Ko Lanta on 1st May 2010. On arrival, you will received a fresh Coconut while you are fill in the paper work for the check in. I was already surprised by the kind attention of the employees of the resort. The honers are French, Belgium and maybe another Nationality, they are really friendly. If you have any...

Hi there, We just spent 2 weeks in Thailand with my partner Steve, a few days in Bangkok and we flew down to Krabi and made our way Ko Lanta. We had nothing booked but Relax Bay had been recommanded to us by a colleague so we spent 6 days there in total. It was simply amazing! The accomodation is...

We returned after 8 years and found Relax Bay had got even better. The restaurant and bar are great, serving quality/ fairly priced (not the cheapest, but not overly-expensive) food and drinks. And the massages are wonderful, in a really beautiful setting. Ang who serves at the bar claimed she recognised us after 8 years - that's service! The bar/...

We booked Relax Bay as a supposedly luxury cap on the end of our 3 months in Asia, based on other reviews and the superb website. As the most expensive place we've stayed in Thailand by far (at 1700bht for a FAN room), it promised a great deal that it did not deliver. The location is great, if the lack...

Dear Marc and Yaz Thank you very much for staying with us 7 days. The restaurant could not have been as expensive and as bad as you mentioned, you have eaten everyday lunch or dinner. The prices, you mentioned, are the prices from the minimart, you should compare with local restaurants, you could realized we are often cheaper for a...

On my backpacking trip around the Krabi and Phuket area with my son (age 7) we have now come to Koh Lanta and Relax bay. We were both impressed by the place already upon arrival: friendly staff, relaxed atmosphere and great location. We did spend 5 nights here, with just a couple of half-day trips. We both feeled relaxed and...

We travelled with three young kids (4, 2 and 1) for a week and had a fantastic time. The beach is kid friendly- the water is not very deep and there are lots of shells to collect. Plus there are shaded areas on the beach to protect from the sun. There were other families with kids-- possible excursions from the...

The big draw card Relax Bay has over its neighbours is the fact that it sits on its own little beach. Although the resort was full during our stay, I don’t think we ever saw more than 20 people on the sand at one time. If you walk on to the beach and turn left, you will reach a rocky...

If you are genuinely looking to relax in a peaceful environment I would think twice about Relax Bay. If you are a family, then you have come to the right place. We booked the VIP aircon room for 3800 per night and was told it was on the beach. It was actually set back behind two other bungalows and when...

We had booked 16 nights in relax bay as part of our honeymoon but only managed to endure 6. When we arrived we were brought to our room and handed a can of mosquito spray by the cleaners. The rooms are basic to say the least, no facilities at all in the room, no fridge, tv etc..the bed was extremely...

Relax Bay Ko Lanta is a home run from start to finish. Booking was easy, the owner replied to my e-mail directly and right away. We stayed in a fan bungalow for a fantastic price, approx. $50 USD/night. It was very clean and spacious, and we made good use of the front porch hammock. The grounds of the resort are...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Relax bay is not your average hotel. If you look for a traditional hotel with AC, concrete walls and all amenities you can find in any deluxe hotel anywhere in the world. Well, we are not the place to be. Our rooms are Huts, spaced between 5 and 10 m from each other and set in a as Jungle-ish possible setting. There is almost no concrete and we constructed our bungalows under the trees. This means they are in the shade. Furthermore the grass-type roofs are overhanging and give protection against the sun and around the bungalows we planted flowers and plants to block out the sun. Shade means coolness but also darkness. Bamboo, a living natural product also soaks up the moisture in the air. We air the rooms, but they always smell a bit Bamboo-ish. They do not smell damp and not well kept, they smell natural. Our roofs are made from grass, so they disintegrate after a time. They are not as waterproof as concrete, or tar roofs. However they are much cooler. and they look much better. Prices on the net should be the same everywhere , but you are best served by making a direct reservation at the hotel. ... more   less
