on about 16‘000 m2 the pattara resort & spa is a beautiful hideaway near the center of phitsanulok. after a warm welcome we were brought to our room by a little electro cart. the receptionist drove us thru the resort and explained where what was. that little drive was only a first but very nice impression what could await us the other morning. and the first impression was even topped. we started the day with a wonderful view over a big pool and and a pond full of lotus flowers. a nice breakfast with thai and western choices and with nice and friendly staff made it easy for us to really fall in love with the place. the pattars resort & spa is a little paradise, well maintained, and with friendly staff. the room was very nice and spacious, clean and with a big bathroom with shower and big bath tub for two. the room service was very discret and friendly. everybody tried to understand us and we always felt understood. the thai food we had for our first dinner was nicely cooked and served. only the wine list could be a bit bigger. three chardonnay and 2 red wine were all that was available. the place motivates to stay at the resort for dinner and it would be certainly nice if a little bar on the pond or the wonderful garden would serve some nice cocktails. but over all its a place we like to come back soon again. perfect to relax, to sit back and just enjoy.

Let's start with the positive: The hotel grounds are amazingly beautiful and photos can hardly do them justice, especially on a sunny day. This would be the main reason to stay at the hotel. Our deluxe room was nice enough, comfortable, quiet and with a view of the pool and pond. There seems to be a total of 2 villas which looked great, a bit isolated away from the reception and restaurant area on the other side of the pond. The food at the restaurant was reasonably good, with an OK Thai and Western selection. Now for the negative: other than at the front desk much of the staff does not understand English or very little. In fact even the front desk staff at check-in may have had a limited understanding, the lady told us the restaurant closes at 10:00PM. However when we arrived at 08:10PM the next day another lady said the restaurant had already closed at 08:00PM, which is incredibly early for a hotel of this size and category. However she then (very kindly) talked to the restaurant staff and told us the restaurant agreed to stay open for us! We still got a nice and unhurried dinner, and interestingly enough there were other guests in the restaurant (a couple were still sitting by the time we finished our dinner and left around 9:30PM). So in the end we have no idea what this was all about. The bellman was very nice but could not understand when I asked him to not lift up a very expensive suitcase by its retractable handle, in fact he completely ignored my request and kept going which was a bit frustrating as it could easily have been broken. Once in the room the safe did not work, a technician came to look at it and left. 30 minutes later he had not come back and we had no news, no-one answered the phone so I had to go back to the front desk. He finally returned with a new safe which he just laid on the sofa, explaining the other one could not be repaired... Even though I never felt there was a risk this would happen, anyone could have picked up the little safety box from our room and walked out with it if they wanted to. There were many mosquitoes due to the proximity of the water, we asked for mosquito spray and were told none was available at the hotel, I don't know how that is possible, or perhaps we were again not understood. Internet was slow and not available in all areas, the TV only had a few Thai channels working (there were English channels listed but no picture). In summary a beautiful property with inconsistent and overall weak service. The staff was not friendly at all at check in or breakfast on the first day so the first impression was bad, then different staff was very much nicer on the second (weekend) day. If overall service consistency and efficiency could be improved the hotel has the potential to be fantastic.

We have just left from Phitsanulok at this piece of paradise. In terms of uniqueness and due to the beauty of the place, this property is so impressive that could be the key selling point to put Phitsanulok in the worlwide map. Fantastic color palette, de oration is nice but lacking of details such as fresh flowers in the middle of such a beautiful green lush idylic garden. It is an amazing place, an exotic dream very representative of Thailand in terms of uniqueness and exotism, but... Cleanliness it is poor. Our room was a bit smelly, not fresh. The fridge has rust maks and water leaking. Have never seen a toilet bowl inside a shower (yes, it is true) the wash basin in the toilen has never seen a scotch brite or a brush there are water marks of years. The terrace with a nice sofa cooor and fabric has water leaking feom the night befores that kept exactly the same the next day. The linen although clean doesnt look fresh. They have a daily bed turn down, came the first night, never saw it again. In generak the room.looks Ok but not freshly clean. Sweep the floor, change bed and towels but, not disinfection whatsoever. Toilet bowl never scratched either. The gecko droppings are everywhere, yes it is a tropical.country, but have never been cleaned from the stairs, the hand rails or the floor. Thw water of the swimming pool was yellowish, we asked as we wanted to enjoy it, but the color never changed in 2 days so we were totally unable to enjoy an afternoon at the pool, readong, eating or drinking. Staff is very nice but some if them they seemed not to.understand Thai, they are afraid to.speak and /or reply to.simple questions but so far they are extremely nice and happy to please us...

A beautiful tranquil location and lovely rooms, lovely bathroom. I really felt relaxed there, but there is a but. The staff are not to quick to react. We had mix up with the credit cards, and they were just flummoxed. There was another episode like that too. So you cannot rely totally on them, even if they are nice. The place is rather elegant and I really enjoyed my stay there.

Oh my goodness this place is like an exotic ghost ship, the first few days we were completely alone except for the straight faced staff, who are I guess fearful for their jobs, I’m can’t imagine this place can survive much longer.....I thought at first it was because there are few tourists because of corona virus but looking back at reviews it has been like this for a while. The building and surroundings are beautiful and so is the room. BUT it is difficult to communicate with the staff, the restaurant is empty, breakfast is reasonable as long as you don’t mind being watched by the bemused staff as you wander across the restaurant from slow toaster to complicated coffee machine, if there was anyone else here the queues to do is would be funny. We tried one evening for a meal, as a vegetarian I was offered spring rolls, eventually I got some tepid fried rice with a smattering of broccoli and carrot. It is thoroughly confusing to be in such luxury with no service. The spa is completely deserted. The building itself is beginning to need some tender loving care, I hope it gets it, this could be a wonderful place to stay.
