First of all i must say that this is not what i expected at all, i was there on 10 of May for a 2 days 1 night stay. I have been waiting to go to this place eversince i found out about it from groupon, i didn't set my expectation high after reviewing all the comment made on this hotel on tripadvisor.

But i must say this is the quietest and peaceful place that i have ever been to. Yes they do have a lot to improve on but it is a job well done and i must take my hats off the staff and the owner for trying to make the place a better place. So let me start with the bad comment first.

1) The programmes on the tv need to be fix. It has limited shows and mostly Indonesian programmes, as the signal is not good. We need a good programme since we love to relax in our room after a long tired journey. Iron clothes on your own as the lady who ironed my partner shirt has double line on the sleeve, and i end up ironing it again and got rid of the lines.

2) The lift that they need to get it working. (Understand that there isn't much visitors yet) Not suitable for elderly should the lift is not fix or working.

3) The water fountain that looks great but there is no water to make it look fantastic.

4) The road gets really dark during night time and it is best to have the hotel driver chauffered you to where you want to go, but be sure to let them know in advance.

5) They need to make the food looks more appetizing, more variety to choose from and the restaurant needs to have music, otherwise it will look bored and dull. Don't expect breakfast to be a fancy one just like what you will get in other country, they serve Fried Maggie, nice but bland, Fried rice that i didn't try at all and sambal (Cillie) sausage. They also serve fried chicken for breakfast, but i must say the chicken is tasty cos it is village chicken one thing which we will never get it here in Singapore, small and crsipy. You can ask for scramble egg with different kind of topping in it.

6) Aircon that need to be fix since it wasn't cold enough altough the ceiling fan was on. (Not sure about other room as we got the room on 2nd floor .

So now the good part;

1) Beautiful place with a magnificent scenery although from distance.
2) Great staff that never failed to smile and greet you no matter how tired they are, respectful n we can see that they are very genuine with the way they do things for us and was really helpful.
3) Beautiful room with nice decorations
4) The pool is working and everyone enjoys swimming.
5) The housekeeping staff was vey helpful and patience when we called saying that our aircon wasn't cold enough.
6) Maintenance guy come within the time mentioned (15 min)
7)They are always making sure that we are comfortable.
8) They maintained the place really well and trying to make sure they meet our needs and demand.
9) Place are improving with new rooms available and more facilities added.
10) they are going to open a new seafood restaurant which will be ready soon.
11) Great service rendered by the driver who sent us to the ferry terminal.

I think overall this place is good for those who seek peace and quiet moment. it is recommended for couple and also family but if you are looking for adventurous activities then this place is not for you as they do not have that kind of activity right now, we need to give them chance to improve rather than to complaint so much.

It is a new hotel which is just one year old, i believe as time goes by they will improve more and will be able to accommodate the needs and demand from us. However for now i must say i will return back again just to enjoy the quiet and beautiful place.

I have taken pictures to show that this place is quite nice and good for those who aren't looking for extreme activities and need to get away from the noisy and busy ,stress city that we come from.

Thank you to all the staff who help us and the driver who keeps us company by chatting all the way to the terminal.

Keep up the good work and we hope you guys will have more visitors soon.

My only message to the management is, do not take your staff for granted, they are fantastic and very helpful, take all the negative comments seriously and improve what the hotel lack. We love this place and planning to come back again soon for a 3 days 2 nights stay.

Thank you to all the readers.

The good point about this hotel is that it is quiet and located near to the beach. The rooms are also nice and clean. However, there are very few activities available, including at the beach. There are some construction works going on, so most facilities are still not ready. Anyway, these are small issues.
The major disappointment was their level of service. There was only one place to eat which was directly above their reception. When we went up, the place was empty with 1 staff there. We found ourselves some seats and waited for the menu. The staff just sat at her place doing nothing. Eventually, one of us had to walk over and asked for the menu. We ordered variety of Indonesia food. Some was quite salty, but overall ok. BTW, do note the price is in USD and food is not cheap. Throughout the entire dinner, the one staff only served the food once and went back to her seat.

The next day, we decided to leave earlier due to the lack of activities available. We checked with the hotel counter staff who then helped to arrange the 1pm transport to ferry terminal. We checked out and got ready around 12.30pm. When we went to the counter to confirm again on the transport timing, she then told us the transport was 3pm. We were stunned but she repeating insisted that she had mentioned transport was 3pm. Please note all of these conversations was in English and was perfectly clear. We had no choice then but to wait 2 hours at the reception for the transport.

Overall, Bintan is an interesting place but our experience was marred by this hotel stay. I suppose there was other better hotels than this one.

So my friend and I had our 2 days off together and decided to go Bintan for a quick getaway. Searching at, I stumble upon this deal for $99/pax 2D/1N stay at Sahid Raya Beach Resort. I bought the deal and searched for some reviews about this place only to find out not so good comments, I was worried but I can't cancel my booking anymore. Upon reaching the hotel we were surprised on how big the area where the hotel stands. Upon reaching the hotel for check-in, we were given a refreshing guyabano juice as a welcome drink, right after check-in we were escorted to our deluxe room. Upon opening the door we were surprised on how big the room was. It was complete with a money safe (not all has this) and a bidet in the toilet (good for asian) . The room was great, staff were very friendly! ;))) and they were very helpful and entertaining to us. Fika the front office staff were so helpful that he even volunteered himself to drive us to the nearest beach resort which he said has more things to offer during night time, he also picked up us on time that night and bring us back safe to the hotel. Also the restaurant staff Rizki and Anggun were very approachable, though they dont really speak english that much they will try their best to answer every queries we have. Breakfast was good. Not to mention Herwin the director of sales who sat together with us during breakfast and make sure we were enjoying our stay. As a new hotel, there are still a lot of room for improvement for this place as I must say. The wifi was not really good and entertainment actovities were very less, but if you really plan to have a rest away from the busy lifestyle in the city then this is a nice place. Overall, we had a good stay. Hoping for our next visit :))))

Since its a long weekend we decided to booked a Bintan trip thru Since there's no more available room from the hotel of our choice we took their offer to go to this hotel and we were very disappointed. From the time that we step in the reception to check in we knew that something is wrong. Staff was agitated, even though there are many of them to assist all the incoming customers. After verifying our details they tell us to wait, but didn't tell us to wait for what. As I am a bit hungry and tired, I wanted to take a rest first then eat dinner since its included in our voucher (free dinner, breakfast, cycling, kayaking). So after 10mins or more of not knowing to wait for what,we approached one staff to ask why we cant go to our room first, thats when they let us know that we are waiting for a car to take us to our room (it was not stated and we are not also informed that the room is far from the reception). We patiently wait again for another 10mins or more and since the car is not yet there we decided to have our dinner first since the restaurant is on the 2nd flr of the reception and we don't want to trouble ourselves to wait again for how many mins just to go back at the restaurant. The food is just nice but not that great, many people coming in and staff don't know what will they do. After eating, we were transported to our hotel room located in the middle of nowhere, a good 5mins ride with nothing to see but dry grass. The room was connected to the other room with only the connecting doors locked and you can hear what the other room is watching or talking about. The bathroom have a bathtub which looks old although the hotel room is still quite new. Weak water flow at night. In the morning we cannot find any staff to ask for transport back to the main hotel since the receptionist yesterday told us that our breakfast will be there so we decided to walk which took us around 20mins in an isolated place. Before that we decided to check the bldg next to our hotel room and we saw that there is a swimming pool also but very dirty. Breakfast food at the restaurant was just ok, the egg served was dry unless you want an omelette there is a cook who will do it for you. There are many people around but some of the staff just stand there and don't help them even though some customers where the ones already arranging tables and chairs for themselves. We also decided to use the free cycling, when we approach the staff he ask for our room no. then ask us to wait then got us a car to ride back to our room?? We don't know if they really cannot understand us though we say clearly that we want to use the bicycle even pointing at it, so after saying what we really want he just give us the helmets then leave without even trying to inform us where we can go. The beach is 5mins walk and you need to cross the main road before you reach there. The beach is dirty and full of TAR!! which left a stain on our slippers and shorts. Upon checking out they ask us to wait again for how many mins before they send us to the terminal. All in all, the experience in this hotel is very bad, staff service and facilities wise. There are many other choices if you want to go to Bintan. Certainly not coming back here and not wasting money on this so called "4-star" hotel.

I was very disappointed after I booked this resort through my travel agent and then checking the reviews on Tripadvisor. I thought maybe it will not be worth it. I was not disappointed at all. First of all, I like myself secluded in a resort far away from city, I am on for a holiday, I do not like noise much. Secondly, I can adjust a bit if I am treated well by the hotel staffs. After all travelling depends a lot on hospitality.

Here is 10 points why I liked this:

1. The hotel is over a 5 minutes hike on a high land, feels like you can trek down and up from road. I love hiking a bit too much.

2. Trikora beach is just a hike down the hotel (additionally you can swim in hotel pool and also have a nice view of the sea, or you can also seat and read in hotel lobby and look at the pool and sea together, what's a better view than that?)

3. People choose other resorts because of activities (maybe). Well, just a hike down to beach and you have a nice guy Mr. Zaka (whom the hotel also refers if you want some water activities), he is the nicest, honest guy I have met. I did jetski at 90 SGD / 900,000 IDR for half an hour. I also wanted him to take me to snorkeling, but after a while the water became unclear and he was honest to me that I might not get chance to see marine creatures other than coral, so it's better taking another chance someday else.

4. Hotel breakfast (which was included, and free) was worth it for me, because it included sausages, fried bee hun, bread, toast, jam, butter, coffee etc. I normally can not have sea food (prawns, shrimps, squids etc.)

5. The manager, the catering head, and the house stuffs are really sweet, because I never heard a NO from them. They adjusted, they even arranged juicy coocnuts for a small pool party (which included vodka with coconut water, chicken satays) while I was dipped in the pool at night (worth a experience of the royal treatment you get when they arrange to bring food for me beside the pool, well, they didn't even take any cover charge)

6. If I get royal treatment I normally can adjust. I behave well if I get well behaviour. So I did not care if the wifi was real slow and disconnecting in my room. Who cares? I am on a holiday. I have been to hills without network or facebook. That's not my life. I want to relax, and that's all that mattered.

7. The bed was good, the wardrobe with a electronic safe was better, the bathroom had hot water supply, and I also had a small freezer/bar cooler. So I was satisfied.

8. The fountain still doesn't work. I don't care, but it's true it would look nicer if they can fix it.

9. The hotel rents cycles / scooty / automatic bikes. It's worth it for a morning stroll. A little bit farther to left is the nicest, serene beach of Trikora for sunrise / sunset lovers, where you also get to watch the sunset while having freshly burnt fishes, and prawns while lying down in a hammock. It's worth it if you have more than one evening. I was hooked on to sunrises though. Well scooty or cycle rental is 10 SGD / 100,000 IDR per hour.

10. The hotel arranges for shuttle pickup or drop to Tanjung Pinang or Bandar Bentan Telani ferry terminal (at 25 sgd extra if thats not already included by them while you book rooms, mostly they include breakfast and pickup and drop along with room rentals, you can always ask)

Additional point 11:

The food menu, though mostly indonesian and sea foods, is good. I do not have sea food, but I can say it's tasty as others were relishing. Dinner buffet is 150,000 IDR / appx 15 sgd which is worth it. For me, I ordered Bee hun without prawns, shrimps (and they topped it up with chicken), I ordered Nasi Goreng (they also topped that with chicken satays instead of shrimps and prawns). It was absolutely tasty and I would not expect better than that at a remote place, I am very finicky about food guy, so if I am eating, and if it didn't ruin my apetite, it must be good.

Now for some tips:

1. It's better to carry IDR, though SGD or USD works everywhere, but if you can count zeroes and pay rightly, well, you can save a few dollars more. I would say for a 2 nights stay per head 300 or 400 sgd is sufficient (if you want to do some activities, biking, water sports and for lunch/dinner etc.) if you already have covered the hotel room cost and breakfast. So after booking, that's what you can convert and take.

2. If you book through agent, or opt for deals from Ensogo / Groupon etc, never talk with driver / guide about activities. Patience, often leads to beautiful things, and it's better hiking down the hotel a bit, if you don't intend to be lazy in the resort, to talk to Mr. Zaka. You will save on cost, energy, effort, and negotiations.

3. I refrain people from looking through deals for this one and talking directly to hotel / manager. I believe they can make a better package and deal. I say this because I arranged it through and agent, I have been through it. :-D

The hotel itself is on a small hill area with the view of beach down below. The hotel looks nice from the outside but it's all worn down in the inside. The bedroom is neat but the showeroom needs some upgrading. Mosquitoes in-between the room curtain and we woke up with small bites on the face. The service was not so satisfactory. We had hard time communicating with the staffs. The food was i would call it below average both breakfast and dinner. And we had a hard time looking for a good seafood restaurant, the hotel was no help either. And their price for the transport service is just ridiculous- they ask for double the price you pay outside of the resort.

Came for a break during the CNY, my friends and I stayed for 2D1N, it was nice to relax in the resort itself. Because it is quite far from the port, we had a glimpse of the rural Bintan life, which is simple and traditional.
* If you want to go to the beach proper, it is just across the street, they provide bike rentals, and beach activities sush as kayaking, which we tried and we had fun.
*Traditional massage is also very relaxing, a must try!
*The meals provided were local delicacies which is good!
*The staffs were friendly and accomodating, even the owner himself comes around to say hello.

At a downside, my friends and I got stuck for a while because our pick up to the port was late, and we have to hurry so not to miss our ferry, anyways, such things happen considering its CNY but overall, we enjoyed our stay.

We stayed from 07-10 Aug 2015,the ferry travel from Singapore was quite far (2 hr ride) plus an hour travel from the terminal to the resort. The ambience was very laid back and quite scenic. I would say it feels more of a retreat house. It was very secluded and far from the town. The resort is wide but very few amenities to do. The room is comfortable but the door key is not working. We requested for a repair for few hours but its still not working. We asked to change rooms but its in a different level so we just stayed next to my friend's room. So everytime we would enter the room we would ask for a room guy to open it for us. We have a few comments for improvement:

* Breakfast menu is always the same, we had the same food for 3 days. We love the pineapple fruit but the rest is forgettable. We hope they have more varieties.

There are no other food shops in the hotel, no store to buy chips or bottled water.

Good thing one of the staff helped us to buy food outside and rode with his motorcycle to town (about 15 minutes ride). We just gave him tip for the ride.

There's only 1 seafood resto that we can find outside of the resort.. about 5-10 minute walk. The food is better that the hotel.

The beach doesnt really look nice.. we had kayaking but thats about it, you have to go to another island to experience a good beach (about 300k rupiah - island hopping and snorkling).

No elevator so you would find it hard if you're carrying a big luggage going up the staircase.

The karaoke machine is not working.

I would say that ambience of the resort is good but very few amenities and things to do. One thing that is really good in the resort would be the staff. They are very warm, helpful and assisted us in every way. Kudos to the hotel staff!

We were locked out from our room one the first night. Thereafter, we waited for more than 30 mins to be told that their system was down. We saw many other guests were at the counter for the same purpose. After making much requests, the staff instructed the non English speaking duty manager to get the master key. When they opened the door for us, the staff passed me the master key that could open all the rooms in the hotel. He told me to hold on to the master key and that I will be held responsible for any losses. That was absolutely ridiculous. When did I just get employed to be their duty security? Worst is yet to come. When I ordered two main course through the room service, nothing came after 45mins. I called the room service again and was told that one of my main course was not available. When ask about the other main course , I was told that since they only have one main course, they decided not to send the other main course. I went to the reception asking for the reason for such horrible room service. It me more than an hour to get to the point of me demanding to check out and get another hotel. The general manager finally came to speak with us. He told us that he has no relationship with other hotels. And that he could drive us around to look for one. Most horribly, he sarcastically told us that if we leave the hotel, we might end up sleeping on cold hard floor with no aircon, no toilet and nothing except the floor. We endured through the night at that unbelievably horrid hotel. I told the GM that we will check out first thing in the morning and demand for refund. He agreed to prepRe the refund by the morning. But when we check out in the morning, he changed his words. He said he could only refund the second night stay and the transport fees to me. Moreover, he said that he cannot refund me directly. It has to go through It has been a week. I was not refunded by either party, the hotel and

Hotel location is quite strategic and easy to be located. I booked a garden view room, it was spacious, nice and clean with a good view to the pool side. If they are selling 'garden view', it might be a good idea to landscape the garden a little bit so that it looks prettier.

I was wondering why the hotel install both AC and ceiling fan. After 60 minutes in the room, I eventually understand; the AC was not cold :( The bath room with bathtub and hot shower is perfect!

The breakfast was okay but not really 'wow' me. They have ala carte breakfast on that day with limited choice.

The staff was nice and friendly. Special thanks to Mbak Indah who assist me even before my arrival. During my stay there she is also serving us and being friendly. Overall stay was pleasant.
