This year Chinese New Year is a bit special to me because I don't have to travel back to Kelantan. So this year my in-law family plan a short trip to Port Dickson and had book Thistle for our 3 days 2 nights accommodation. The resort is located right beside the beach so is very convenient for beach lover. The resort is 6 level high, the room is either sea view or green view. The room is quite spacious, each room had a small balcony with chair outside for you to enjoy the view. Due to the resort had operated for some times, the shower hot water system is the old type with hot and cold water knot is separated. So when having shower, need to adjust for some time to get the right temperature. The breakfast selection I would said there is not much choices. Don't expect a wow breakfast from here. The swimming pool is the most enjoyable place for the kids as there is 2 pools area with slide for kids to enjoy themselves. The depth level also separated well in order people who don't know how to swim will not go into the wrong pool area. There is another infinity pool near to the beach which is right beside a bar operated by the resort. If you don't like water sport, there is some others activity room for you to spend your time. The low side which the management should look into it is the check-in process and the housekeeping. On the day we check-in, we book for 3 rooms, due to the lack of rooms we only manage to get 2 rooms and the other room is not ready until 5pm ++ which I think is a bit not acceptable. For the housekeeping, the management should either get additional staff to do the job or get the current staff to speed up. There is a day when we left the room in morning for housekeeping but when we back to our room in afternoon the room still not clean yet. Although this resort is not new, but I think the service quality should maintain or be even better.

I don't put high expectations to this hotel after knowing it was established from 2009. But my family and I experienced a pleasant stayed for 4d3n. We were greeted at the entrance during arrival despite so many people at that time. The room was clean and spacious. Housekeeping did good job when clean the room and politely ask if can use a vacuum, she is afraid that the sound may disturb you. We love the large pool. But not all facilities are open, except swimming pool, gym, and games room. Gym equipments are very limited and old. We took BBQ service, amount of food is more than enough for my family. Overall we have pleasant stayed here.

This is our 2nd visit and this trip, we (2 adults and 2 kids) stayed in the sea facing Family Room with bunk beds on the 6th floor. Some quick key points: maintenance is required as a bathroom light isn't working; the TV isn't working either and the wifi is weak in the room.
However that's not the major grouse as the kids enjoyed the pool, the beach and the room. We ordered in room dining of Carbonara, Creamy Mushroom Soup and Triple Decker Sandwich. The servings for carbonara and soup are ridiculously small and is definitely not worth the price tags of RM22 each.

this hotel should not carry the brand Thistle. i paid RM500 for a deluxe garden view room but with RM500 i get a RM200 room. perhaps a rm200 could be better. management really need to rethink charging that much for this kind of hotel. my impression of the hotel from the lobby area is excellent. it fits the hotel brand. i was so dissapointed with the room. it is tired hotel that desperately need to refurbished. the room floors are unclean and i can still feel the sand left by the previous tenant. the furnitures are old and dated. definately don't reflect what we are paying. There are only 3 socket in the room and 1 cannot even be used. the check in time is 4pm and check out 11am as they need more time to sanitise. We do understand this is now a trying time. Hence what the hotel should do is charge your customer according to the means of your hotel .

We had a 2 night stay at this hotel and wld like to make some comments for improvements. Firstly, we brought along our 87 year old mom. Although the hotel provided wheelchair facilities, but it wasn't "old people" friendly. The walkway to the beach was unlevelled and grassy, and it was a difficult push and uncomfortable for her. The hotel should provide a levelled, cemented walkway for wheelchairs/elderly. The internet connection was also very slow. Besides that, the water heater wasn't working well and the water flow in the shower was extremely slow. When we requested for breakfast to be sent to the room, there was a charge of rm50 (for rooms with breakfast) and rm 100 (rooms without). These are all very disappointing as we are trying to support the hotel industry in this trying, covid times and to get services like these from the hotel. Our last stay here, for sure!

Visited this resort so many times for past few years because it is just a short drive away for a weekend getaway. From the initial marvellous stay to those bad ones, we have prepared to expect the minimum this time . Surprisingly, they managed to do it well this round. Room is clean and even nicely decorated. Got a wonderful seaview room. SOP are in placed. High tea at the fresh restaurant was nice and the service staff were polite. Buffet breakfast improved from last time , food are prepacked and more hygienic, although the choices are still pretty limited and the waiter never bother to clear the table. The beach is clean and nice to swim. But the motorised watersport activities within the swim zone seems a bit too dangerous , maybe should marked out a zone just for swimming.
Overall, we felt that the staffs are more attentive and polite this time, and service definitely better. If this is to maintain for long, we are surely coming back for more visits !

The service has drop and a bit run down. Used to be a very nice hotel with good service. Check-In on 29 - 31 Dec 2021 ( 2 night stay ). Booked a family room cost almost RM1,200 but really not worth it with the service provided. Upon check in, there is a lot of guest at the lobby waiting for check in. Need to Q up for the check in, was given a number. After registration was told the room not ready yet and can come back in 1 hour later. Have to go to reception up to 5 times to begged for the room. Finally almost 7pm only can check in to the room. A lot of guess already lost their patient and demand to speak to the Manager. One Asssistant Manager even having argument with the guess saying the housekeeping is still cleaning the rooms. Even under pressure, the hotel staffs / Manager should not have a fight with customers. By the time check in, the pool already closed and the kids don't get to swim at the pool. Was promised be given compensation like late check out. But come to check out date, was told the latest only before 2pm. Can't extend any longer. Really feel cheated by the empty promised. Breakfast is suck with limited choices. Nobody control the crowd. Look like they are having manpower issue. As i notice during this 2 days stay, they are having same issue during check in. The rooms is not ready till late evening. This really spoil the Hotel name in long run. Good Luck with this kind of service. Really sad, such a nice hotel end up like this. The management really need to look into this urgently to solve the Housekeeping / Manpower issue.

Good Facilities and comfortable room even though for RMCO but a bad bad bad experience for 4d/3n stay. it was suppossed a 5d/4n stay and had to be shorten due to management policy and poor service provided.
1. housekeeping experience - bad. guest had to accept delay for room housekeeping due to high occupancy. almost every day for us! absurd! 2. mobile food delivery such as food panda is not allowed to enter the compound so guests had to walk from your room to guard hse to retrived our order due to RMCO policy which is not stated on the website. 3. customer service - bad. almost all of the staff were not friendly and cheerful and never reply to compliment wish. 4. others request from knock2- bad. had to call several time for service. due to this unpleasant experiece we decide to shorten our stay and the process took the whole day! we have been chosing Thistle since 2010 and after 10 years this is the worst 5 star rating hotel! Not reccomend if you choose a pleasant stay!

The hotel's SOP on "no outside food allowed" has long been practiced, not only for us but for all hotel industries. This has to be adhered to strictly more so that the Covid 19 pandemic continues to threaten everyone. Outside food from 3rd party vendors and suppliers are not allowed but due to the current situation and understanding your needs, we have relaxed this to allow collection at a distance. 3. and 4. We have taken this on board and will schedule more concise motivational customer service training to boost the staff morale during this RMCO period. Spent 3D/2N here with family. Check-in took 45 mins. Rooms are spacious and clean. Only 1 small lift per block which means max 4 ppl each time and the lifts are extremely slow Breakfast very bad with very limited choices and only the nasi lemak with rendang are delicious No lounge chairs on the beach and beach not that clean Not sure if hotel policy but difficult to ask housekeeping to give more than 2 sachets of creamer Extra bath towel since we need one for the toddler, need to pay RM5 and can’t charge to room but must pay at reception counter when they have our credit card details and a deposit of RM300. Is it hotel policy to charge and collect separately from deposit? Saw a child peeing into the pool drainage and with parents’ approval.

We came around 1pm on a Sunday, did our registration with Room Division Manager Anne. We came a bit too early, but she managed to give us the room at around 2pm. Kudos to Housekeeping, because we know the day before is really busy and they did their best to clean the rooms. Anne was really helpful and explained all the facilities of the Resort. She gave us a beautiful room with a wonderful view of the ocean, me and the wife just simply love it! Luggage was handled by Bellman Anuar, he was really courteous and helpful. The beach is beautiful, but really needed more trash cans. I had to carry garbage I picked up from the beach area just to dispose of them at the trashcan near the pool. The privacy of the beach meant more space for me and my son to enjoy it. We had a blast. The pool is HUGE. Kids will enjoy the kiddy pool and slide, while I can dive and swim at the 2m pool. One the best Resort pool I experienced in Port Dickson. Breakfast was okay. I understand the limit of the buffet due to the pandemic, precautions is a must and I applaud the management for it. Upon departure, I really enjoy the company of AFOM John at the reception. He even helped me to recommend local eateries which is plenty in Port Dickson, as we are spoiled for choice. Anuar again assisted our luggage and being a buddy helped me arrange the things in my car trunk. It was a good stay, the wife is happy as well as the kids. I will be coming back to Thistle Port Dickson in December for my wife's birthday.
