Detailed Reviews
we had a chalet on the beach & it was lovely ave the beach & sea just at your doorstep.
we loved the fact that it wasn't at a busy area, good for a relaxing getaway.
short walk to the dive center - which was our main reason for choosing this hotel.
room was clean & comfortable. (water heater, mini fridge, air cond, tv - which we hardly watched)
water pressure was low during peak times but good otherwise.
no problems with bugs/mosquitoes as we came prepared with mosquito coils & bug spray.
family owned & run ..... very friendly atmosphere.
had most of our meals at the coffee house (ala carte) & enjoyed them.

+1
Juara Mutiara is not as accessible as the more popular resorts like Salang or Paya, but it is really worth checking out. Diving spots are pristine and you don't get the crowds like in the other resorts. Highly recommended!

Overall unsatisfied with this accommodation. The sheets were very dirty when we arrived, when we asked for new sheets someone came to change them but the new ones were also dirty with crumbs and even hairs… The room looked like it was not cleaned at all, dust everywhere and the floor was gross. The bathroom had stains of previous visitours and even empty shower gell bottles. There were ants and bugs everywhere in the room and on the property.
The restaurant was closed the first night we got there without explanation. The staff was not very helpfull or kind. They said there was a laundry service, but our laundry took two days and came back looking like it had not been cleaned at all. For all these problems the staff did not step up or try to find a solution.
We paid relatively much if you take into consideration that all chalets were empty and considering our bad experience. Not worth the money in the slightest. Overall a bad experience and we recommend everybody to stay somewhere else.

I have asthma, it's been hell.
1. I'm staying in the Deluxe Ocean View Room, and it fills with the smoke and the smell of burning trash and melting plastic every evening after 7, and continues until perhaps 1 AM. The building is sat at the lowest point on the beach in front of a sort of trash-filled depression that flows into the ocean at monsoon season (check the photo), and all the resorts burn their trash close by, and all the smoke pools into this room because the air conditioner has a big hole through to the outside wall, and the sliding glass doors have big whistling gaps. The small bathroom box fan does not help. I've already had a serious asthma attack, it's literally dangerous.
2. I had to leave the snorkeling tour early because despite asking multiple times how many people were going (they said 4; it was 20) and if it was nonsmoking (they said yes, it's nonsmoking when i bought the ticket, and again before i stepped on the boat), 3/3 staff members unapologetically smoked or vaped in my face the entire time, and taking their cue as permission, 3 guests started vaping and another 3 smoking, making it miserable for me, so i demanded to be dropped off at the next jetty.
3. A nonsmoking room just means you personally happen to not be smoking in it at this very moment. All the rooms are smoking, and almost all the customers here smoke, many of them the incredibly strong local stuff that's illegal in other countries and makes anyone in a 300m circumference think there's a brush fire nearby. instead of trying to curb this damage to their property (not to mention health hazard), they sell a large variety of these cigs at their minimart. just one kind of fruit per day, but 12 types of cigs! the garden is littered with literally thousands of cigarette butts they've never cleaned, again, just check the photo- that was just the 2 square meters in front of my cottage, multiply it by 20,000 . . .
I have spent 5 years traveling in SE Asia, I realize people here don't believe air pollution, secondhand smoke, and lung disease are real. I always travel with 2 air purifiers, I'm always upfront about finding solutions with hotel staff . . . this place was hell and their constant gaslighting abominable.

I really enjoyed staying here. It was an excellent location by the beach, and the chalets were cool to stay in. The staff were friendly, pleasant and helpful too! It was interesting watching the monitor lizards and other island creatures strolling about too!

I was in Juara some 20 years ago when there was almost no one there but I remembered the beautiful white sandy beach and the emerald green crystal clear water. So this time I decided to visit Juara with my families and I was not sorry. To get there we first need to get to Tekek village in Tioman from Mersing and it proved to be quite an adventure as there was only one ferry company that monopolized the service, therefore it was late, chaotic and disorderly. Some people end up having the ticket but was not able to get onto the ferry because there were just too many people. Once we got to Tekek, we were met by the son of the Juara Mutiara owner (very punctual) that took us on his Hilux across this beautiful rainforest jungle to the other side of Tioman. Juara Mutiara Resort located in a very beautiful and well maintained village. My son had a ball sitting at the back of the pick up truck. The chalet was quaint, basic but clean and comfortable...very appropriate for a place like this. The chalet is family owned, all are very friendly and accommodating. Just a few minutes walk from our chalet is their restaurant which serve good food for reasonable price. The beach...now that is something out of a picture...long white sandy beach, crystal clear water, and not crowded at all...most of the time my families were the only one there. If you are a swimmer - you can swim a little bit further from the beach and you will be treated with amazing corals. We spent most of our time outdoor and saw some beautiful fish swimming very close to the beach, infact some run into us. We were sorry to leave after 5 days, but will definitely try to come again.

On my recent visit on the 20th to 23rd June to Juara Mutiara in TIoman, we a family of 6 with 2 kids faced the worst experience ever in out travel so far. We ordered cheese prawn from the menu, the chef made the menu from either rotten cheese or prawn as it smelled too foul and tasted high poisonous where you can literally smell the toxic gas coming out from the prawn and cheese when cooked. I am a certified Safety & Health Officer so, please I hope my review hold some credentials.
When we asked the waiter ( a malay guy with black round specticle) to change the prawn cheese dish by at least wsahing then and cooking in a different style, we were ignored for 15 minutes. When we asked again, he mentioned that the chef declined to do so and said that they may consider to do it after about 6 more customers order. They also denied cancellation. After about 1 hour, we called and they ignored our request hoping that we get frustrated and go . Finally we went to the cashier to pay and said that we want the dish to be cancelled. With highest order sarcasm and arrogance the malay guy mentioned that it can not be cancelled once its ordered even if it is spoilt, worst when I asked for a discount for a dish which we did not eat at all, he just ignored and just took the money from us. I had made a report to the DOSH , Malaysian safety and health department to take action on them as I found their kitchen were dirty with filthy stock , rotten poultry and meat etc. This was the worst experience we have had in our entire life where we were forced to pay for a food which were clearly spoilt and poisonous.
We highly recommend for your to eat elsewhere because your words will not be heard in this pathetic restaurant. I will continue writing this comment again and again in the spirit of saving other lives from poisonous hazard and the barbaric act of the employees as in the waiter and chef of the JUARA MUTIARA RESORT RESTAURANT , TIOMAN.
If you do not believe my comment whoever is visiting this restaurant, pls attend to the restaurant and just observe the way the waiter attends to you and try cancelling any menu which you think is not freshly prepared and needing to change etc especially peak evening hours where they may have lots of customers and they will victimise you.

This was my second visit to Juara Mutiara after a hiatus of 13 years. The sand on the beach has lost a little of its fineness because of development but the whole resort is still a place for people who value peace and tranquility. The owner, Pakcik Sani and his family run this charming little resort. Of course, there are small things here and there that needs improvement especially the sound of the bikes wandering around near the only concrete road in the middle of the night and early morning. It's not like they are making the noise on purpose but that is one of the two methods of transport other than the 4x4 truck which help them in the maintenance of the resort.
We went to snorkeling on the 2nd day and it was fun as it was only the 5 of us. So, no rush to end the activity early.
The family members of Pakcik Sani are very attentive to our needs. They checked with us every once in a while even though they had 60++ guests to entertain on the second day.
One thing to note is that there is no direct method of transportation i.e ferry to Juara anymore unless you come in a group and charter the whole ferry to go to Juara. For small groups, you will land at Tekek i.e. Jetty #3 and you have to arrange for a 4x4 truck to pick you up to climb the 7-8km of hilly road to Juara Mutiara.
