Tunamaya is abt 30mins boat ride from Genting jetty. These hotel provides prompt & efficient pick up upon arrival. The check-in was a breeze & staff are very friendly. The entire place is set in a private enclosure & such a winderful place for a private retreat. Just a few metres away frim the shires, you could snorkel & watch beautiful fish. The accommodation is well designed and set apart from each other in good distance. The credit should go to the Manager, Mr Subra who is most attentive & accommodating. He watches over EVERYTHING! Yes everything. Poor guy is working his butt to the core from morning to late night. There are areas they can improve. From the time they take your order till the food arrives to your table, there seems to confusion. I think they are used to buffet setting & now a bit disorganised with ala carte menu. We even waited 2 hours for our pizza! Room serives too lack commitment. The beds are not done properly & we need to remind them to refill the coffee/tea & the toiletries. The verandas were not cleaned for a very long time. The polyprop chairs were stained and does not reflect the hotel settings. The first impression we got dwindled with these small issues. The cooks need to be creative & accommodate minor adjustment. There’s no kids menu & they are oblivious for simple request for chicken porridge for a 2 yr old! If you’re a vegetarian/vegan, you need to be very calm as choices are limited. Despite these, Mr Subra is relentlessly trying his BEST to accede customers requirement. He definitely needs a better team at housekeeping, maintenance & at the kitchen. The owners need to step up their effort to support Mr Subra to take Tunamaya to the next pedestal.

I was initially nervous about staying at the Tunamaya after seeing the reviews of the hotel left in July but I am SO HAPPY I decided to come anyways. There was no remains of any oil spill only super turquoise & crystal blue water. The pristine beach is really the star of this hotel if you ask me.
The rooms are basic but very clean and comfortable. Everything you need to feel like you’re staying in a nice hotel. They also send cookies to your room every evening!
While it did feel a bit understaffed, the staff here always had a smile on their face and were extremely polite. Food wise there is only one restaurant but there are good Western and Asian options. Portions are big. I do advise you to load up on snacks and mosquito repellent before you come as the convenience store doesn’t sell any.
Overall so happy I came. You will want to stay at the beach all day.

We had a pleasant stay in Tunamaya. We booked 1 beach family room and 1 garden family room but has been upgraded to the beach family room. The beach is beautiful but full of shells. So make sure to put on your beach shoes to avoid scratch or wound. The customer service was efficient enough despite of the hit from covid-19. The boat transfer from Genting to the resort was also on time. The food price is a bit pricey for locals but nonetheless all are decent. My boys had a great time not just swimming, kayakking, snorkeling but also fishing! We were so lucky to get a decent size (~2kg) fish that day. Then, we asked the resort chef to cook the fish for us. We booked a 6 day family of 5 trip to this resort and hoped to be treated to a joyous experience of Malaysian culinary delights and beautiful snorkelling. We paid circa £300 sterling a night, and left after 1 night and the refuse to give a refund.
This resort is the worst I have stayed at anywhere on Earth.
1. Grossly understaffed. Although staff we nice, their hands were tied. 2. Truly appalling food quality...see the £300 a night “ala carte” breakfast. Also no vegetarian option in the menu, we were however offered a salad. There were also food inspectors there at the time. 3. Zero WiFi or 3G connectivity. I understand that this is a remote location and a getaway but WiFi was promised in lobby and it simply did not work. The 1 computer provided that could work also did not work. 4. Oil in the water!! There was an oil spill 3 days before we arrived. We were given no warning on this. As this is a snorkelling resort, the main reason of travelling there was now unattainable. We came out of the water looking like Dalmatian dogs 5. Rooms - we requested and we advised our rooms would be together...with 3 children and monkeys running wild quite important. This was not honoured. The rooms were clean but AC poor and I heard while discussing at lobby many patrons complaining ac not working, shower not working 6. Bathroom of our friend was ant infested. 7. Activities. Given the oil spill and appalling food we wanted to go to other areas of the island. That would cost 300 ringgit per person.
Altogether. A hugely disappointing unsatisfactory trip and given the hotel categorically refuse to refund us then I strongly advise anyone to avoid this resort.

The seafood price displayed was misleading and confusing .They actual pricey items wasnt display on the price board and could lead you to pay a very high price for a lame bbq serving .Eg. The displayed price showing tiger prawn priced at 130/kg ,however they didnt sell any tiger prawn there were only KING tiger prawns available .The staff didnt explain the actual price of King Tiger Prawn was RM350/kg instead he just weigh them .

We booked 3D2N all inclusive and the resort view is breathtaking. Was dissappointed as complimentary upgrade which was advertised, was not available to us even though there are only few guests.
Improvements needed 》 Maintenance. Resort needs more cleaning staff for thier grounds. Rooms a bit outdated. Chairs outside room stained dirty 》 Being isolated, activities and food comes with premium price. We only gets our life jacket on the day we went snorkelling. For some it can be quiet time. For others it could be really boring. Management should review pricing esp activities for guest. 》Internet is bad even for the paid coonection.
Good moments 》 Friendly staff esp one waiter at the restaurant. They really lift up the resort atmosphere. 》 Sceneric view and beautiful sunset. Great for photo taking. 》 Food is good even though its pricey.
Overall the highlight of our trip is out snorkelling. Tioman is beautiful.

Heaven on earth! Rooms were clean and neat! Beach was so beautiful and serene, not forgetting that the Mountain view was breathtaking. It’s truly heaven on earth. Getting there was quite a journey but trust me it’s all worth it! Diana, one of hotel staffs was one of the main highlight as well! 2 days before checking in, she called to check on our ferry schedule, gave us tips as well to ensure that our journey will be smooth sailing. Upon arrival, we were greeted by the warm hotel staffs. The island was really safe! It was so safe that We even left our doors unlocked while hanging out by the beach. We went on a 2 hours hike to Asah waterfall on the second day. Highly recommended for explorers! Even though the journey was long but it didn’t feel like it because the scenery along the hike was beyond beautiful, no words can describe how I truly felt during the hike. Not forgetting the food was AWESOME! We truly enjoyed every meal and always looking forward to the next meal. Seafood BBQ is a must try! We went for a short exploration by the beach in the night to look for fishes. We spotted fishes swimming near the shore! On the last day, we were so reluctant to leave but we had to get back to mainland. Unfortunately the waves were too strong for us to leave in the morning, as monsoon is approaching. We missed our ferry because we couldn’t leave the island. Diana and the crew were so helpful and she took the extra mile to arrange a private speedboat to get us back to mainland when the waves are calmer in the afternoon. The crews sent us all the way to the dock when we were leaving and ensuring everyone is safe and sound. They even apologised for the inconvenience caused when it’s not even their fault. I definitely recommend this resort to anyone who’s looking to have a nice and peaceful getaway. It’s suitable for solo, couples, friends and even big families gathering. Had a 3D 2N stay with 9 buddies in this one of the best resort in Tioman that you should not miss. In comparative to our previous trip stay at Berjaya resort which Tunamaya Resort was so much better with their services and food quality that served after the pandemic. Although there are shortage of staffing in hospitality trade now but you could still see daily familiar faces smiling brightly to all guests in the resort that warmed and welcome our stay. I have to said they were very generous with the foods portioning with wide varieties served and we did not have to wait more than half an hour for our meals to be served. Thanks to Chef Eddie and his team for taking good care of us. The resort located in a beautiful island that had stunning mountains view behind and clear crystal sea in front of our rooms with baby sharking swimming waving to us. As pictures shown in their website, resort facility are well maintained, rooms are cleaned, bed was comfortable like 5 stars stay. Is like Heaven on earth! We are there for our diving trip for 2 days, had engaged NDL diver Centre in the resort with John. I would said our 1st dive day was shore dive as dive sites were shallow and not much attraction of corals/ fishes at all. Luckily, on the 2nd days we managed to get to 2 beautiful sites but would said the visibility on the day was not perfect, however, we did have a great dive. I m surprised to see clean and new BCD and regulators that they had provided. John and his 2 diver trainees, Taki and Mega are very helpful and friendly. John has shared some good tips in buoyancy for our dive as we are still pretty new in our skills. Mega had his underwater camera for us to capture nice beautiful pictures with all sea creatures. We will definitely coming back to Tunamaya Resort again for sure. Kudos to the few staffs serving us diligently with passion, they are Chef Eddie & team, Diana from Front Desk, Ika, Dixon and ALin from F&B team and not forgetting some of them whom I had lost count of names that served all of us in Tunamaya. We know shorthanded is tough, providing good services to all guests are even tougher during short handed. Fighting on till we will be back to see you all again. Thanks for having us and leaving with memorable stay in your resort.

We had a wonderful stay in this resort. The staff was very friendly, the breakfast excellent. Although the restaurant was short on several things here and then (which is understandable for an island restaurant) the food was tasty. The room (second row) was nice with a beautiful sea view from the “back door”. We appreciated the water dispensers in combination with reusable glass bottles.

Beautiful place, best view, turquoise clear water, you could see fishes swimming and biting your fingers just at the water edge, mountain view as backdrop..
Most importantly, very private and feels so exclusive, considering the rate is not that exorbitantly priced..
Ofcourse since it's on a private island, you have to expect some setbacks i.e restaurants understaff and food selection is not wide but for those who are there just to chillax and dont expect to be treated like lords, but the beautiful serene peaceful private place, makes you feel like one, is the best place..
This is a secluded side of the island hence for those who travel with small kids, better bring snacks and ensure you have your meds,first aid kit and toiletries ready with you..
