If you like home comforts this is not the place for you. If, however, you want knowledgeable guides, a really close up experience of the river/forest and local life, and to be away from the crowds (this is the only tourist option in this area), and dont mind missing luxuries like a hot shower, then I recommend this place. From...

Though very difficult to find/navigate your way to their main office (or maybe we just really dropped the ball on getting off the bus at the right time), we really enjoyed our time here. The loft cabins surrounded by rainforest are really cute, and the showers - though cold and with a bucket - were wonderful. Food wasn't incredible, but...

Brilliant place to stay with helpful and friendly guides, incredibly well run. Situated on the Kinabatangan river there was the opportunity to see some amazing wildlife. The camp decks were so unique and the main camp had a great atmosphere.

Jungle camp comunity managed. No electricity, toilets are fine, shower consists on a tank to pick up water and pour it over yourself. Lots of moskitoes. The cooperative managing the camp runs a long term reforestation project. River cruises are very productive and interesting with lots of proboscis monkeys and birds seen, some key species of birds are not availible...

It’s a very special experience to be sleep under on an open deck built in the trees in the middle of the Borneo jungle. The beautiful Eco Camp is remote, reached only by boat and is an opportunity to be surrounded by the birds, animals and insects that live there.I am so glad we went there. We absolutely loved it...

I volunteered here for 3 weeks, staying in the Eco camp. The camp is brilliant, situated in the forest next to a lake it is a very beautiful setting with an extraordinary amount of nature. We saw many animals: otters, terepins, crocodiles, egrets, hornbills, owls, fruit bats, primates (proboscis, langer, macac), pythons, monitor lizards, geckos, squirrels, wild boars, civets, and...

Everybody visits Kinabatangan river with Uncle Tan but if you want to avoid crowds (we were the only guests!), contribute to the local community (Mescot also runs homestays in the village) and help with environment restoration in the area, go with Tungog Rainforest Eco Camp. You are pretty much guaranteed to see crocodiles, proboscis monkeys, macaques and hornbills. Sightings of...

Unfortunately, we had just 2D1N here, but if we had more time, we would definitely stay longer here. The camp is located approx. 10 minutes by boat from the village. By this way, we spotted a crocodile, resting on the riverbank. On the small jetty by the campsite were few monkeys, seemed like they expected us. :-) The campsite is...

Off the beaten track and accessed by boat. You are in the middle of the jungle with no electricity or Wi-Fi. Loved the accommodation which was unique, clean and private. Really nice toilet facilities, with a cold water hand ladle shower. The jungle noises at night added to the experience, also the team loved it when we spotted a tarantula...

This place really is beautiful with fabulous views over the oxbow lake from the extensive cental sitting areas, which even had hammocks. There was only us & one other couple here which was nice - no crowded boats. The jungle is beautiful here with lots of small animals to see even in camp such as pigmy squirrels, civet cats, monkeys...
