This is a comfortable and well appointed resort. The people are lovely and very appreciative of your visit to their country. If you are looking for a western style 5 star hotel then you are in the wrong place. If you want to wake up to the sounds of swiftlets and the jungle, then this resort will not disappoint. Wifi is only available in a limited area so if you have a panic attack if you can't get on FB of instagram you should not be here. We loved it here and spent a lot of time exploring the area.

We have recently returned from an amazing holiday to Borneo to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary.

We spent a night at My Nature Resort and the service was excellent.

After check in we were taken to our room, which had been decorated with balloons.

The room itself was lovely and the balcony overlooked the jungle where we watched a troop of short tailed macaques. After that we went for a walk around the jungle boardwalk and came and relaxed on the terrace where at dusk we saw a couple of flying squirrels.

The food was delicious and very plentiful. After that we were presented with a decorated cake.

Sadly we only had one night here as part of our tour and would happily have stayed another night to have time to visit the nearby rain forest discovery centre.

The little extra steps the staff took to look after us were extremely thoughtful and turned what would have been a great stay into a truly memorable one

Stayed for 2 separate nights at the beginning and end of our trip to Sandakan.
The hotel is in a perfect location for the Sun Bear and Orangutan sanctuaries.
The lodge's were lovely especially the ones overlooking the rain forest where we saw Rhinoceros Hornbills. 10 minute walk to the discovery rainforest centre which is definitely worth a visit.
The hotel is owned by SI tours who own a number of hotels in Sandakan. Rooms are basic but very clean. The pool area is just the icing on the cake with pool towels provided in your room.
Lovely start and finish to our Borneo adventure

We stayed here for two night at the start of our honeymoon. The resort itself is beautiful with monkeys walking around and a lovely pool to cool down. Our room was very spacious and comfortable, the air con was much appreciated, we had a lovely pond view from our balcony which was so lovely to sit outside on in the evenings whilst listening to the tranquility noises from the rainforest. I spotted a very large monitor lizard outside our room but it took off fast when it heard me approaching. The meals were all very tasty, there was a selection of chicken, fish, rice and vegetables along with other meat that was freshly cooked. Along with fresh melon and other deserts. Breakfast was also lovely with your choice of freshly cooked eggs. The drinks are not expensive to purchase. The staff were so welcoming and friendly, we had a couple of special surprises as honeymooners which really made our stay memorable! The flying squirrels are a must watch in the evenings around 6pm before dinner, would definitely recommend binoculars as they can be quite quick. Our guide Leo was fantastic, we visited the Orangutan and sun bear sanctuary, if you want to return to the orangutan sanctuary in the afternoon, let you guide know and they will give you your ticket which lets you in again, the afternoon is much quieter there but you go alone without a guide, the resort will arrange their transport for you and arrange a time to collect you after. We were very lucky on our last day, we saw a wild orangutan from the board walk. The board walk is lovely to walk around, were were lucky enough to spot a mouse deer which apparently is really rare. Make sure you do walk it more than once as each time you see different things. The manager there is lovely and good to have a laugh with. The whole place is stunning as we hope to return again one day. Thank you My Nature Resort for making our first honeymoon stop so special and memorable!!

This Lodge is situated on the edge of the rain Forest, with board walks in and around the Forest. The gardens are beautifully maintained, attracting an array of birds, one of which was the Crimson Sunbird, sadly they don’t hang around for a photo.
Edmundo the manager of this lodge is great, he was always pointing out different birds and every evening on the deck we watched the flying Squirrels, thanks to him pin pointing them in the trees for us, prior to them launching them selves.
Thankyou Edmundo for making this place special, and for arranging Omlette and chips for me.

Great lodge for families and close to the Orangutan rehabilitation centre and the Rainforest Discovery centre. We are a family of 5 with kids aged 13, 11 and 8. We had a family villa which was very spacious and had 3 single beds for the kids. Lovely large pool which was great for cooling off after day trips - kids loved it. Rainforest discovery centre is only a 7 minute walk away and is a must - 900m of canopy walk ways and you get a great chance of seeing Orangutans in the wild (we saw 3). The lodge do a shuttle bus to the orangutan centre and took us there and picked us up whenever we asked. Staff were great. They have flying squirrels every night in the high trees next to the restaurant. Food was a limited selection but what they served was good (mainly different curries). Overall would highly recommend. We were also considering the Sepilok Nature Resort but this place swung it for us with their pool which I am glad we went for as kids used it every day.

Location: Accessible by car after visiting the Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Center.
Reception Staff: Kind and friendly. Relaxed rhythm.
Common spaces: well-kept gardens as well as access to the cabin rooms. Building that serves as a dining room and cafeteria, open space without walls, pleasant and charming. Tables are assigned during the stay and it is always the same.
Pool. Very nice. Few sun loungers and umbrellas. It does not have a cafeteria.
Room: spacious and comfortable. I think they all have a great terrace with two sun loungers. Bright and quiet. Very comfortable and large bed. . It has curtains that prevent light from entering. Wooden interior. Insufficient bedside lights for reading.
Bathroom. Small and dark, not a strong point. Non-drinking water, but it is bottled in the room, if it is not enough there is the possibility of refilling it in the dining room for free.
Breakfast: there are no natural juices and the fruit is scarce and not very varied, once again we are surprised by this with the variety and abundance of the country with this resource. Instant coffee. Very limited options, toast, eggs and some local cuisine. It is forgiven for being in the middle of the jungle, it is very worth it even if those limitations exist.
Dinner: same place as breakfast. Chicken, noodles, no salad, a vegetable similar to the chard that we saw in almost the entire country, which is somewhat tough but delicious, and little else.
If you don't have data, Wi-Fi is paid.
Impossible to have a cold beer due to the temperature of the refrigerator attached to the outside.
From reception they offer a short walk to a natural park that is very close, it is worth it. They charge for it with transfer included. Its cheap.
Of course YES to binoculars just like the rest of the country.

We stayed for 2 nights at this beautiful resort.

We were greeted at Sandakan airport by staff from My Nature Reserve who drove us approx 30 mins to the resort.
On route they checked our itinerary and confirmed our trips.

On arrival at the resort we met Edmundo the manager and he gave us information about the resort.

Our lodge/room had a comfy king size bed with fluffy pillows and duvet. The room and balcony were huge and well furnished in dark wood. We had a safe, kettle and small fridge and a large TV. The air con was quiet and efficient.

The lodges were well spaced out offering guests their own secluded part of the rainforest jungle with so many varieties of birds to enjoy.

The resort is walking distance to the discovery centre and a 5 min drive to the Sepilok Orang-utan and Sun Bear centre with a courtesy mini bus offered for both.

We had pre booked a visit to the Labuk Bay Proboscis monkey reserve which is well worth a trip.

We used the swimming pool for a welcome dip to cool off after a hot day trekking about. The pool and surrounding area was kept very clean.

All guests stayed on a full board basis and the buffet meals were very well cooked and tasty. The bar offered very reasonable priced drinks.

Most guests gathered at 1800hrs by the dining area to see the flying squirrels. Edmundo made this an enjoyable experience getting everyone involved in trying to spot them first.

Dining tables were reserved with guest names and this was a good time to interact and share experiences with the couple or groups next to you.

Our stay at My Nature reserve and the 5 star review is down to the staff.
Throughout our stay Edmundo and his team could not do enough for us.
It was all hands to the deck with the chef, waiters and Edmundo all working as a team to ensure we were happy.

If you are staying in Sepilok, we highly recommend My Nature Reserve.

We had a wonderful stay here. It was the slow season and a few renovations were being made, but it was no bother and the staff were very accommodating. The meals were fabulous, though way too much food! We had tours of Sepilok and the Sunbears, the Discovery Rainforest, and downtown Sandakan. Our visit continued with 3 nights on the Kinabatangan River and their other two lodges - just what we hoped for! Leo was our guide and did a great job spotting wildlife and explaining the region to us...thank you!

This was the perfect place to start our Bornean adventure after 2 days in KL. The resort itself is beautiful and on the edge of the rainforest, so you can just sit on your balcony or in the communal areas and spot wildlife whilst listening to the sounds of the rainforest. Watching the flying squirrels at 6pm each evening is a must and we were lucky enough to see our first wild orangutan from the boardwalk.
Our room was very spacious, comfortable and spotless, the air con was very welcome! There is also the added benefit of a lovely pool to cool off in between activities. The food was tasty and plentiful with more choice than I was expecting and the drinks were reasonably priced. You can also get free tea/coffee/water all day.
What makes this resort special is the manager Edmundo and his team of friendly, welcoming staff, who couldn’t be nicer or more helpful. Not only is Edmundo great fun to spend time with, his passion for wildlife is infectious.
Our fantastic guide Leo picked us up from the airport and stayed with us until we left the Kinabatangan River Lodge (also owned by SI Tours). During our 2 night stay at MYNR he took us to the Sandikan War Memorial Park, the Rainforest Discovery Centre, the Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre and Sun Bear Sanctuary plus the Labuk Bay Proboscis Monkey Sanctuary. All of which we thoroughly enjoyed. I would recommend that you pre-book any places you wish to visit as having your guide with you really adds to the experience.
We loved our stay at MYNR and would strongly recommend it.
