Perhentian Island Resort is an ideal beach resort for a leisurely family vacation in Malaysia. Surrounded by lush greenery, facing white sandy beaches and a warm blue sea, Perhentian Island is a holiday paradise not to be missed. Perhentian Island, or Pulau Perhentian as the locals call it, is well known as a marine paradise and forms a parts of the National Marine Park of Malaysia. In the surrounding areas of Perhentian Island Resort, you will find many things to see and do. Take a jungle trek up the hills under a canopy of large trees, and you might see wild magpies, giant fruit bats or the Nicobar pigeon. We stayed 3 nights in PIR. Relatively expensive, but that is true for almost all accommodations on the Island. Cabins ar OK, nothing special but clean and having all necessities. Park is nice. The beach is superb, snorkel and diving possibilities available against very good prices. No need to arrange tours elsewhere. Staf at reception was nice and friendly. However, somethings went wrong as we had to move to another cabine because of a broken aircon. This was not in the system and yes, then your room is not cleaned and this needs to be asked 3 times. Ok no worries. What is really bad is the restaurant. No alcohol, a pity but it is as it is, but the food is extremely bad and expensive. The breakfast is super simple, a fried noodle without any taste or a scrambled egg witch can

We stayed for 4 nights. Had a good time on the beach and swimming with the turtles (not as nice as Redang) . The rooms were very basic, but the door didn’t fully shut/ seal and bugs would wander in. We found a massive spider in the bathroom that freaked my wife out. The beds were stiff as a board. Our main gripe was the food. I love Asian food, but this was poorly done. Rice always seemed like it was from the day before. Ironically, someone from the kitchen was eating a nice looking meal and I asked what it was called. She said it isn’t on the menu! ;]. Also, they have a pier that everyone loves jumping 0ff, but they told us on day 2 that it was too dangerous even though the pier Is operated by the state. These complaints might be due to the mco and might improve.

Pros: Recently refurbished. Good for snorkeling with nice corals and fishes just infront of the hotel. And turtles too. No sand flies. 30mins boat ride. Cons: Toilet smells horrible at all time You thought its a private beach but it wasnt. Other tourist are free to come and hangout at the beach. The food is beyond horrible. Not a single day we had a nice meal. Power off for 5mins everyday at 10.30am and 2.30pm i think.

Perhentian Island Resort has gorgeous beach and environment, however, plenty things were disappointing. The confirmation reservation email indicated that the earliest boat transfer from K. Besut Jetty to Perhentian is 9am. Unfortunately PIR office at K. Besut Jetty open around 9.10am. The arrangement for the boat transfer was chaotic. Check-in at PIR around 11am, check-in took very long time for no reason. We chilled at beach deck after check-in as room is not ready. We snorkeling in-front of Resort. We saw stingray, crown fish, snappers, beak fish, turtle, grouper, parrot fish, crab, sea cucumbers etc. Perfect for family retreat. Placed order first lunch around 12:45pm, and it took nearly an hour for my son’s fish & chips being served. Almost every meals during our stay

The location and the beach are very good, but sometimes full of boats with snorkel excursions. That is the only reason I understand people going to this hotel, But be aware that there’s others hotels, just next door and you can still enjoy this beach. You don’t need to actually stay on the Perhentian Island Resort. Disliked . Overpriced for sure. Everything was very old and dirty. As we enter our first room the smell was awful, both room and bathroom smelled very bad; The room was very very dirty with poo from small animals everywhere, some small cockroaches on the bed, the walls full of blood and stains from dead animals; bed side tables cover with dust and sand; the glass doors to the balcony completely dirty with grease from a lot of hands. Outside, on the balcony a
