#5 of 12 hotels in Pulau Perhentian Besar
Perhentian Island Resort is an ideal beach resort for a leisurely family vacation in Malaysia. Surrounded by lush greenery, facing white sandy beaches and a warm blue sea, Perhentian Island is a holiday paradise not to be missed. Perhentian Island, or Pulau Perhentian as the locals call it, is well known as a marine paradise and forms a parts of the National Marine Park of Malaysia. In the surrounding areas of Perhentian Island Resort, you will find many things to see and do. Take a jungle trek up the hills under a canopy of large trees, and you might see wild magpies, giant fruit bats or the Nicobar pigeon. Perhentian Island lies along the flight path of this migratory bird. You might also see the harmless monitor lizard or even the unique lutong monkey species. The nearest jungle trail is less than 100 metres away from our resort. Or gather your family and head to the inviting sea for a swim. For those who enjoy snorkelling or scuba diving, the Resort is strategically located, fronting a coral-rich bay. The marine ecosystem of this area is well documented and held in high regards by snorkellers and scuba divers. If you come between June and September, you might get lucky and see giant green turtles laying eggs along the beach. Enjoy your next family holiday at this paradise beach resort, where reality is like a dream.

This was the first Island of an island-hopping fortnight down the East coast of West Malaysia. We stopped one night in a beach front villa which had a well fitted bathroom but the room its self was spartan and the couch badly stained. Perhentian Island Resort sits on a magnificent beach but apart from that, the resort does not have much else going for it, we had a very forgettable dinner and next morning a poorly presented, inadequate breakfast, sorry to leave beach but not Perhentian Island resort.

The resort is located in a wonderful beach, white sand and clear sea. The accommodation are simple but pretty clean, with squirrels, butterfly and big monitor lizard walking around the resort. Breakfast ok, lunch and dinner pretty bad and overpriced, there are better eating place near by. Nature and relax.

These guys are trading entirely on location. The resort is a total dump - in every aspect (rooms, restaurant, grounds, pool, everything!) A total dump. So many things did not work or broke while we were there. Everything about the place is shabby - everything They are charging about US$100 per night and they should be charging less than half of that. No management in sight. Smacks of a place inherited by the next generation that is only interested in collecting the monthly profits. The beach is nice - that's it.

We were a bit worried after reading other reviews about the food served in PIR, but then our booking has been confirmed so we just headed to the island with packs of instant cup noodles. Our PIR experience turned out to be great! Rooms are clean, staff are polite. They might not be proactive, but if you approach them asking for help they are more than happy to lend a hand. Food is not great but if you lower your expectation a little bit you will find there are actually plenty of food to feed you. Afterall this is a remote island you can't expect you can conveniently get everything you want as in a city. My two children loved PIR, they said they want to come back again to this beautiful resort with great people, great beach, great sea.

We choose a big one house for family trip with one balcony upstairs. We got a nice resort and we can see a good view from the balcony. And the best part is our resort is beside the cafe also. So its easy for us to go for foods and all the staff is very friendly also.
