Perhentian Island Resort is an ideal beach resort for a leisurely family vacation in Malaysia. Surrounded by lush greenery, facing white sandy beaches and a warm blue sea, Perhentian Island is a holiday paradise not to be missed. Perhentian Island, or Pulau Perhentian as the locals call it, is well known as a marine paradise and forms a parts of the National Marine Park of Malaysia. In the surrounding areas of Perhentian Island Resort, you will find many things to see and do. Take a jungle trek up the hills under a canopy of large trees, and you might see wild magpies, giant fruit bats or the Nicobar pigeon. Perhentian Island lies along the flight path of this migratory bird. You might also see the harmless monitor lizard or even the unique lutong monkey species. The nearest jungle trail is less than 100 metres away from our resort. Or gather your family and head to the inviting sea for a swim. For those who enjoy snorkelling or scuba diving, the Resort is strategically located, fronting a coral-rich bay. The marine ecosystem of this area is well documented and held in high regards by snorkellers and scuba divers. If you come between June and September, you might get lucky and see giant green turtles laying eggs along the beach. Enjoy your next family holiday at this paradise beach resort, where reality is like a dream.

Considering this is one of the most expensive properties in the Perhentians you would expect something pretty special - and the beach is indeed fantastic but that is where it ends. The rooms are very basic and we have nothing good to say about the restaurant where the menu was very limited unless you love seafood and the quality of the food was a awful. For example one night, we ordered the steak as a bit of a treat as it was by no means cheap and it turned up cold and not cooked as requested. The meat was fatty and cheap and certainly not of the quality we had come to expect when dining at other retaurants in Malaysia and on the Perhentians. The side salad was limp and the fries cold and soggy. Upon complaining they offered to put them in the "microwave" for us to warm them

The best thing this place is offering are: clear blue sea and white sandy beaches. The sun was strong enough to give your body a nice even tan, waves smooth enough as a gentle lullaby while you sleep. We end up sleeping for hours on the white sandy beach just outside our room, which faces the sea as soon as we open the door. Truly a 100% break away from the busy city life, we will return that's for sure.

Rooms are basic, towels are threadbare, and some interesting brown liquids come out of the taps, but... when it comes down to it, you are here for the water and beach, and they are both absolutely fantastic! I stayed for five days. At the start of the trip, the water was a little choppy, but flattened out and was completely calm by the end of my stay. My abiding memory is of floating around in the sea for hours on end, looking down at the little brightly-coloured fish around me and looking up at the monkeys swinging around in the trees. The most disappointing aspect of the stay was the food. The buffet selections at breakfast and dinner were extremely disappointing, and since the food just sat there in the heat, there was a big rush to get to the tables as soon as the
