I had the most incredible time visiting the Sahara Passion Hotel in Timbuktu!! I truly can't imagine what I would have done had I not found Sahara Passion. They arranged for us to be picked up at the airport in Bamako by their contact there, Gorel, who put us up in his home, complete with a delicious meal, a running...

This wonderful hotel on the edge of Timbuktu provides the traveler with a unique experience. The hotel "lobby" and indeed all the ground floor rooms are soft desert sand (with mats and rugs covering the sand in the room). This is more or less a place for backpackers to sleep on the terrace at night.They have one room which was quite a place with all the wildlife flying in.Afterall this is Timbuktu. This is basic accomodation but very affordable and what is more, very freindly and helpful people. The location is goregious on the very edge of the town there is an amazing view of the dunes and the town from thier second story roof top. Stunning sunsets and rises camel caravans passing by; 1001 nights like tales around the campfire. Free...
