i was last months in Tamagroute,18kms from Zagora, in the south of Morocco, and i decided to hace a tea in Jnane Dra, i would say that the place is so quiet and nice; maybe because its close to a saint, a source of mindful existance.

I traveled to Tamegroute with my friend, the start our desert adventure at Jnane-Dar Diafa. The two of us eventually traveled through the Draa valley and on to Marrakech safely, happily, with never a sidelong glance or a rude word from anyone. So---for all you women who might be hesitating, don't wait. In Morocco, there are no limits on hospitality-and... More

My friend and I spent five wonderful days visiting Tamegroute and the surrounding area. Jnane-Dar Diafa is a magical place, fully absorbing the vibes of the site just across the street where bin Nasir is buried and which is revered by many for its healing powers. The proprietors of the Auberge (Doris, Abdessedek and his wife Nadia) are incomparable hosts.... More

We came by taxi from Zagora on our way to Ouled Driss and stopped for a tasty lunch at Jnane-Dar Diafa. The food was good and the garden and surroundings are a nice spot to unwind for a few hours. Manager Doris was very friendly and helpful. She organised a 1 hr tour of Tamegroute for us including the library,... More

This is a little paradise in an interesting and busy town. If you like ceramics this town is the best place to buy. As you go through the entrance you realise you have arrived in a peaceful tranquil location. Doris the owner is extremely friendly and helpful along with her staff, especially the new chap who had only been there... More

This accommodation is recommended. The rooms are situated in a building in a large garden. In the garden some open tents are set up that make up for very nice places to relax or have dinner. This is the only accommodation in Morocco we have seen that allows you to chose what you eat on a half board stay. Not... More

We spent two wonderful, relaxing days at this beautiful auberge and one night in the desert - the whole trip organized by the auberge. The food is great and the owners are extremely pleasant and helpful! Apart from telling us interesting figures and facts about the country and the people, they helped us finding a riad in Fes for the... More

We had an amazing stay at Jnane-Dar. The grounds of the Dar are beautiful, the food excellent, and the New Year's eve trek into the desert memorable. Doris was an amazing guide and host--she is kind, patient, knowledgeable, and gracious. She attended to the details and made our trip really special. She was clear and communicative from the beginning and... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Jnane-Dar Diafa is a little hotel in the style of a Kasbah in a big garden of vegetables, flowers and palm trees. In the Kasbah you find 5 rooms with shower and toilet and 4 rooms with collective showers and toilets. One of the room with bathroom and one of the simple rooms can be put together to a big family room. The 4 new rooms in the backside of the garden - all 4 of them with shower and toilet can be used for wheelchairs. A big caidal-tent and 4 nomad-tenets servent as dining rooms. Public passengers come as well to eat here. The lovely old Kushk, a Sufi pavilion can be used as well as dining room and it is an ideal place to meditate, for conferences and celebrate festivities. We prepare Marocain food, when ever possible with products of our own garden. One of our specialities is pastilla, either with chicken, with meat or vegetarian and home made ice cream. The garden invites you to relaxe and to feel good. In a part of the garden we have wireless connection. The big parking place allowed caravans, he is locked up by night. We organise visits into the old Kasbahtown, to the well known library of Sidi Ben Nasiri and the Zaouiat Naciri, as well to the famoust pottery of Tamegroute. You can as well get a guide for a visit in the beautiful palmeraie. We can organise folkloric performances of the region. You can book camel trips into the desert as well as tours by land rover and in future we will offer as well horse riding around here. ... more   less
