When I got to the hotel, reception had no idea that we had a reservation there. The woman who we spoke with at reception said her boss had not told her anything about our reservation and when I showed her I had booked online she said they only book by cash at the hotel itself. When I asked to speak...

Generously sized rooms, bathrooms, like most hostels, could do with an update but all clean which is the most important thing. There isn't much around, though we did have one of our best meals at the little bar about 50 meters away if you walk left along the beach, the fish steamed with a great vegetable selection. Wifi only works...

I stayed here with my husband and a few friends, we all stayed in private rooms with two beds each and private bathrooms. The beds themselves were comfortable, the pillows not so much. We weren't provided with sheets, although we didn't realise this until we were going to bed and reception had shut, so that's our own fault for not...

We got off the ferry from San Jorge at the San Jose port on Ometepe Island. Our choices were pretty limited in terms of available hostels in the area. We found this one down a dark path, and decided to spend the night before moving on somewhere else the next day. Even though it was cheap, 7$/person per night, it...

Making reservations is almost impossible unless you make a long distance call. When you arrive it turns out your reservations are meaningless. You definitely want one of the front rooms near the lake. They're pleasant and airy. Rooms further up the path inland are suffocating cells. The beach here is filthy, but the local action is fascinating with women wasting...

I worked in a camp similar to this in Mexico for over 15 years but without such great views. I think I paid $1248 cordobas for a lake view cabin for my son and I. Would have definitely paid more. Took a side trip to Ojo de Agua for a cool dip and cocktails. Tranquil and peaceful is 2 of...

Stayed three nights in February. In rural community with no nightlife but a few restaurants and stores. Work fine for us as we went to bed early most nights and had a rental car to get anywhere we wanted to go on island during the day. Seen others walking at night with no issues but not sure how comfortable I...

So I stayed at this hotel with my family in March 2012. We arrived at the island at night and before we arrived we had no preparation whatsoever as to where we would stay so we asked the guides near the ferry and he recommended this place. As we were arriving to the hotel it looked very nice and hey...

We can definitely recommend Hotel Playa Santa Martha. The location right at the beach, very friendly staff, good food and cool bears-What else can you ask for? You can see the two volcanoes and the san jose ferry stops only a few minute's walk from here. (From Moyagalpa it is only a 15 minute's bus ride). There are other restaurants...

To be honest, the hotel has a very nice location and was reasonably priced for a private cabin. However, I need to share an experience that occurred during our stay. My female friends had been invited to drink with the owner's son and when I (male) joined them, the owner's son asked me to translate his inappropriate comments to the...
